30/3/2022 09:35 | There will be no let up on the intensity of pressure on the Irish government to start to take meaningful steps in ensuring their energy security, the news from Germany should certainly get their attention and this protracted delay in granting the lease undertaking for Barryroe is ludicrous, …GL S “The German government has taken the first formal step towards gas rationing as it braces itself for a potential halt in deliveries from Russia due to a dispute over payments.” “Robert Habeck, economics minister, on Wednesday morning activated the “early warning phase” of an existing gas emergency law put in place to deal with acute energy shortages.” “The move was triggered by German concern that Russia might cut supplies to the country and its neighbours because they are rebuffing Moscow’s efforts to force payment for gas imports in roubles.” “Russian officials said on Tuesday that Moscow would not “supply gas for free” to Europe, a day after G7 countries unanimously rejected President Vladimir Putin’s directive requiring rouble payments.” “During the early warning phase — the first of three stages in Germany’s emergency response — a crisis team from the economics ministry, the regulator and the private sector will monitor imports and storage.” | swizz
30/3/2022 09:24 | It is so patently obvious that Barryroe needs to be developed that only in Ireland could their heads be so firmly dug into the sand. The only refinery in Ireland at Whitegate near Cork can in any case only supply 40% of the country's needs, how about that for forward planning? They will just have to carry on importing diesel at ever increasing prices, if they can get it at all. How does that help the greenie agenda? | kibes
29/3/2022 10:50 | THE KREMLIN REITERATES THAT EUROPE MUST PAY FOR GAS SUPPLIES IN RUBLES. Plus with a European wide diesel crisis about to unfold, which will cause significant disruption to Ireland's agriculture and dairy industry, the pressure is about to ratchet up significantly on Ireland's lack of energy security,...GL S | swizz

13/3/2022 10:29 | It’s very evident a seismic shift is taking place in Irish political circles,…GL S Senator Tim Lombard said the matter needs to be examined in the context of considering the country's energy security and where Ireland fits into it with its own energy security policy. The Fine Gael representative stated: "Is it appropriate or logical for us to be importing oil or gas from Russia? Is that going to be our long-term aim? "We all know there is a renewable policy, but that will not deliver in time for where we are at the moment. We have our own natural resources. "We have natural resources off the coast of west Cork in the Barryroe oil field that has not been exploited.“ | swizz
13/3/2022 08:29 | The Sunday Times article provides an overview of the farcical approach that Ryan has taken in relation to Ireland’s energy transition and highlights in some detail the challenges that Providence and Lansdowne have been dealing with, I am sure we will see more of this as the energy crisis deepens and Ryan’s failing’s are forensically exposed, ….GL S A few snippets from the article.. “Since its first discovery ten years ago, Barryroe has been the great white hope of Ireland’s offshore exploration. Providence, the main promoter of Barryroe, one of the largest undeveloped offshore oil and gas fields in Europe, has encountered a litany of challenges including falling oil prices, failed talks with investment partners and a change in management. To the list Providence can now add another hurdle: a stonewalling minister.” “Last April Exola, a joint venture between Providence Resources and junior partner Lansdowne Oil and Gas, submitted an application to the GeoScience Regulation Office of the Department of Environment, Climate and Communications, for a lease undertaking to develop the Barryroe field off the coast of Co Cork.” “Having drawn up plans for a drilling programme to further appraise the field and completed a financing plan, the company says it cannot move forward without first securing the lease undertaking, which it calls “a natural follow-on from the Barryroe exploration licence”. Yet the permit is not forthcoming.” “Since the start of the year, Providence has twice written to Eamon Ryan, the environment minister, without reply.” “Frustration is mounting. The exploration licence expired in July, and so the delay is eating into the four-year term of the lease. Last month Providence emphasised the role that Barryroe can play in improving national energy security for Ireland, which currently imports 100 per cent of its oil.“ "Paul Deane, a senior environment researcher at University College Cork, has changed his mind on the use of LNG and gas exploration in Ireland since the outbreak of Putin’s war." “Now that we are a continent at war, it has changed my perception,” he says. “The world has changed in the past two weeks, and we need to change our thinking. I think the government needs to reassess its views on LNG and gas exploration.” "He added that the country will have to err on the side of caution and realise that a reassessment of fossil fuel policy might be a solution, if only for the short term." | swizz
