Kingfisher enjoyed an enormous but obviously unsustainable boost from the lockdown era, when people had the time and inclination to do home improvements. Shareholders must now largely disregard this exceptional period and seek out the longer term underlying trend.

The early signs seem quite encouraging when comparing growth after the bumper lockdown era to that which preceded it. The company was initially caught napping by the early online onslaught but is now under new management and seems to be seriously leveraging its existing widespread distribution & stores footprint to expand its online presence and maximize the full capability of Screwfix.

The e-commerce potential appears to be quite promising, leveraging off the back of the established stores network. We shall see.

Just found this in the Q1 trading update. Seems to focus primarily on e-commerce/technology side of its bricks & clicks operations:-

‘Teach-in̵7; event on 5 July 2022. Kingfisher is hosting an in-person ‘teach-in̵7; event for analysts and institutional investors, on the afternoon of Tuesday, 5 July 2022. The event will take place in London, and will provide deeper insights into the e-commerce/technology and Responsible Business pillars of the ‘Powered by Kingfisher’ strategy.

'Teach-in' event scheduled for next Tuesday 5th Jul 2022.

Presumably this is some kind of presentation? … for analysts? They should be more explicit.

Screwfix doing a 10% offer over May to ordering via the app, thats quite a discount, I just cancelled a shed on order and will re-order it tomorrow when I have the code for downloading the app, quite a saving for me, quite a reduction in margin for KGF !

indeed EI, shares worth £520k, which 6 x the value of his director fee - wouldn't have done that on a whim.

great news that the share price has fallen away a bit for the share buyback programme.

the multiple strengths of the group continue to be dramatically undervalued in the current share price. i think the general perception as reflected in the share price rating is stuck about 5 years in the past. the business has simplified to only operate in markets where they are #1 or #2 , and they are financially very strong.

EI, tell me about it. invisible hand at work makes things v frustrating if you are looking to buy panic, when all you see is euphoria. but must start to hurt soon esp if bonds continue to crash. some big trades made this week looking for lower bond prices ie higher yields. hopefully we get them and something breaks.

Yes, I get that, there are an awful lot of folk out there in cash having been scared not least by scared witless by the yield curve inversion and the media doom mongering around this, of course what is just as likely to happen on back of this particularly given events is yet more central bank about turns that will send stocks off to the moon. KGF could then see one hell of a bounce!

As a % of my overall portfolio no, on an individual stock basis it's far from ideal.

What has hurt is being heavily in cash over the last 3 weeks as markets rebounded.

got an upgrade yesterday from db but one of those upgrades i dont like, a valuation based one in large. usually thats never a trigger for a move. they talked about kgf having more exposure to the trade side which should hold up better than diy which they say is moderating but long term trend (in diy) being intact. they say pretax is expected to decline in 23 but move up in 24. trades on 8.5 times their 23 f/c.

if makes a lower low then likely to fill gap to 230. there youd be back in the realms of pre covid.
