Agreed - tender offer seems odd, just buy them back at market.

As I see the results:
Prices for ilmenite and zircon were solid (at least for now!)
Operating costs overall (not just per tonne) were a tad on the high side but not unnerving
Capex lower than expected, which is nice to see when we all know there is >$250m capex spend ahead of us
Revenue bolstered by selling inventory after weaker production but should see H2 production back to normal
$16m div, $30m buyback and $16m debt paid down

Happy with the divi, but the tender offer? Who'd sell at £4.22?

It's true it never seems to go anywhere, but throwing off cash & IMO eventually a GLEN or Chinese co comes in for it at about £9.

Might be wrong, but paid to wait.

I've sold out of KMR. The dividend withholding tax has killed the yield and I see no immediate prospect of capital gain to compensate. Better value elsewhere.

Another mildly disappointing production report - at least blaming lightening rather than Covid or the war in Ukraine - but KMR's so cheap, not certain it matters much.

Holding out the prospect of another share buy back too.

From SPAngel

Ilmenite – Prices for ilmenite concentrate continue to rest at ~US$308/t from $332/t in April
• The fall in ilmenite prices in China followed the pull back in many other commodities.
• Ilmenite prices still remain relatively buoyant and close to prices seen 12-months ago due to ongoing demand for titanium dioxide for paint and new demand for China’s growing aircraft manufacturing industry.
• The Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, a Chinese state-owned aerospace manufacturer which started in 2008 in Shanghai, expects to produce 150 C919 passenger aircraft a year in five years with >1,200 orders in the books.
• Chengdu Aircraft Industry Group recently delivered 140 J-20 fighter jets though annual production numbers are not yet known.
• Paint: Chinese paint sales rose to US$93bn last year and are expected to exceed US$98bn this year.
• The painting and completion of millions of new and pre-sold apartments in China should continue to help drive growth in this key area with paint representing around 90% of global ilmenite demand.

Interesting to read up on Perovskite and how it is about to revolutionise the efficiency of solar panels, going to also create massive demand for titanium mineral sands .....

Overall positive news including firm intention, albeit not commitment, to maintain current level of dividend which provides a c9%+ yield:

"Based on Kenmare's current and anticipated financial performance and strong balance sheet position, the Company believes that dividend payments should be sustainable at or about their current absolute level."

They are flexing the dividend policy up to 40% of profits to accommodate continued payment at this level.

Note they flag a longer term issue about tax costs of extracting profits from Moz and they may look to restructure the group - perhaps they will relocate?

Anyway GLA

Can't think I've had Irish withholding tax deducted from ISA divi before, but possible I've not noticed. There's surely a double-tax treaty with Ireland!

"Irish Dividend Withholding Tax (25%) must be deducted from dividends paid by the Company, unless a shareholder is entitled to an exemption and has submitted a properly completed exemption form to the Company's Registrar."

Figures looked excellent to my eyes, so after KMR spending a long time on my watch list I dipped a toe in the water with a first purchase this morning. Yield looks ok even after any Irish withholding tax.

Got to be happy with that divi. KMR seem to take everything that's thrown at them, but can't help feel a one-country, one product (sort of - one set of products), one mine co deserves a home with a GLEN or RIO, and it'll happen eventually, surely.

Meanwhile, we're paid to wait.

Not great news on the lightening strike and subsequent loss of production. Assuming no one injured in the storm. Let's see how the share price reacts today but still a great medium term buy at these prices Imho

Agreed SpectoAcc this has been quite a rollercoster over the long term! - in retrospect they were too heavily geared when they started production to withstand problems but they are much more resilient now. Still very good value.
