Credit to Tucson on LSE who posted:
In the annual report it was indicated that they hoped to conclude the refinancing by the end of June.

Tucson's posts prompted me to drill through revealing a few titbits. Could be part of the reason we're moving imo:

-The covenant is next due to be tested on 30 June 2017

-The Group intends to enter discussions with the banks to achieve a refinancing of the PXF facility in the first half of 2017 in order to amend the financial covenants to ensure a breach is not triggered and to increase available liquidity
by extending the facility amount and the duration of the facility. The Board is confident the banks will view such a refinancing favourably provided the Group’s debt service obligations continue to be maintained and considering the short-term nature of the breach and the quality of the Group’s assets, in particular the Bozshakol and Aktogay mines which have long operational lives and provide
large scale output at low cash costs

-In particular, the Directors have concluded that it is highly likely that the Group will be able to successfully restructure the PXF facility prior to 30 June 2017

PXF is only a part of the debt, and there's seemingly a separate revolving facility coming up for negotiation at the same time (JUN17). There's clearly several external entities involved so it's not hard to think positive news might be beginning to show itself via one avenue or another.

Seems like a disproportionate rise in share price relative to copper price today. Similar rise today on Anglo American. We need another 10 cents per pound in a sustained way and the shared price will break 500-520p. Something that's quite significant today is that copper tested, successfully, the 5600 USD per tonne support level.

Possible on the China news and even better if Trump infrastructure spending becomes a reality. A sector correction was likely after the exceptional gains last year. e.g in UK mining sector doubled in 2016.

Good thing about KAZ is aside from fast ramping up production it's at low cost too. News on any debt repayment could also give the share a lift. Looks worth holding through the dips unless surprise bad news, and even adding around £4 if it gets that low again.
