10/3/2017 12:25 | I agree. We're about to flip the trend to financials with commodities taking a back seat until interim divis.Nfp will be strong enough for a March hike. Is that fully factored into copper? | nicksoj

10/3/2017 05:58 | Copper hits 2-month low on Fed rise talk Copper has fallen to a two-month low, reflecting losses across the industrial metals and other assets as markets geared up for an expected hike in US interest rates this month. Another large build in London Metal Exchange (LME) copper stocks and news from Chile that BHP Billiton was mulling bringing in temporary workers to ease the effects of a strike at its Escondida copper mine also pressured prices. Three-month copper on the LME closed at $US5,690, down 1.4 per cent, having earlier touched its lowest since January 10 at $US5,652. The metal hit a 21-month high of $US6,204 in February after news of strike action at Escondida and an export stoppage at Freeport-McMoRan's Grasberg facility in Indonesia, the world's second-largest copper mine. Copper has slipped sharply in the past week, however, as bets on a March US rate increase grew, driving up the US dollar and weighing on assets priced in the currency. "Everyone's betting that a Fed rate rise will take place. That's what's keeping base metals prices currently very low," ABN Amro analyst Casper Burgering said. "You can see that among all the base metals, including copper, aluminium and zinc." hxxp://www.news.com. | b2l
