i'll tell you why this stockmarket is a racket..i had my stop loss at 95p on KAZ but it took over a hour for it to be triggered yet price was around 92p...this is because the city boys know its going lower and they want you to drop your stop loss so they can fleece more money out of you

Sometimes you have to understand its nothing to do with the sector, when the hedgefunds etc see an opportunity they can force it up or down to suit there cause. Share trading can be a cruel experiance.

Something is no right with this crock, you don't drop over 25% in a matter of days for no reason when the sector is only off 3-5%.

Down a touch today, after a strong start, again on higher buy than sell volume. That's just one day and doesn’t mean a lot, but it's an interesting chart if you look at the On Balance Volume for this year and different periods throughout.
OBV rises when volume on up days outpaces volume on down days (and vice versa). This has been rising since the start of the year against a falling share price The theory is that volume, buying or selling, will precede the price in either direction.
Very positive here when compared Anto, Rio, and others.

mreasygoing, you cant have it both ways. dollar rises because of good growth prospects and upward interest rate perception. so increase in demand for commodities.
Also, many commodity companies have costs in currencies that fall vs dollar whereas earnings are in dollars, thus increase in profits

nowadays if a stocks true worth is say 200, it can go down to 20 or 400 depending on sentiment. You have to buy as close to 20 or sell close to 400.

At some point copper will go up, sentiment will change and commodity stocks will fly, until then don't put money in these stocks that you will need in the next 2 years. I do expect easing by the Chinese, major moves to get the Chinese to consume, growth of infrastructure projects in India, increasing growth in USA and eventually in Europe, pickup of Africa will produce robust commodity prices. Accumulate on dips!

Kaz took a 12% hit on 2,006,426 sells vs 2,018,595 buys. Realistic?

Commodities are priced in dollars, if the dollar rises it therefore becomes more expensive for those who want to buy. Hence why commodities take a hit when the dollar rises.

I'd expect a rate rise to be a big boost for the markets in particular banks.

Bring it on.

If the world’s largest economy decides that it can now raise interest rates after years of debate, then this signals that they think that the US economy and the world economy is strong enough to take it.
China is appreciative of its own issues and, more importantly, is taking measures to correct them.
A couple of reports have suggested a copper deficit, rather than surplus, over the coming year.
When the tide begins to change, the really big players in these markets will be looking to reverse their positions. They will also be looking for a counterparty.

Does anyone remember when the onset of Q.E money printing in the US was going to be disastrous for the dollar and gold was going to fly?

lab308- You are right copper should move as you described, and in time will, especially when demand becomes stronger than supply. This will happen eventually, and move quickly. Unfortunately copper (rightly or wrongly) has become a china story, especially on the decline side as the best way to short china is to short copper.

OK can you knowledgeable people tell me what's going on here ? Apparently the USA , the largest economy in the world, is improving so much after years in the doldrums that an interest rate rise is probable. This improvement in ecomic activity is disastrous for copper and Kaz.
On the other hand China, the second world economy is slowing. This is also disastrous for copper and Kaz.
The dollar rises . Copper is priced in dollars. Don't we get more money per pound ? Anyway the world still goes on and population increases and copper gets harder to find and extract. So the price keeps dropping. What happened to supply and demand ?
