I was wrong about the reason for the delay. It is more about bureaucracy and anti smuggling, which doesn't help KAV shareholders but supposedly KAV are at the ministry 2-3 days a week and there is a metallurgical report suggesting someone from government has looked at the drill core.News today on geophysics looks very promising.

I suppose for bulk mining, it all comes down to the grade, but as importantly.. Over how many meters? Glad the cores looked encouraging, enough to warrant more and deeper drilling, any reasonable results, and the hints are there, should see us lift off hopefully, especially with gold prices breaking out above all time highs, Copper normally follows, I think this all looks very encouraging.

Hillside results could be another 4 weeks unfortunately. To recap, Hillside drilling finished early Dec, KAV wanted to use a lab in Johannesburg. KAV need an export permit to send the core to SA and as of two weeks ago this had not been granted, pure speculation but someone in Harare is demanding a big bribe, KAV are holding firm and would be committing a criminal offence in U.K. if they pay up. Brett dismissed a local alternate lab in Zim but other companies most notably Caledonia do use the lab. KAV know the assay delays are unacceptable and sent core samples to the local lab about a month ago. If they're worried about quality then they need to submit known test samples. My underlying concern is grades and how this fits with bulk mining. By definition most of the higher grade 5-10g/t Au has been mined out. My concern is how the market reacts to 1g/t.

I’m personally looking forward to any data published on the presence of gold At Hillside, mostly only the near surface has been scratched so far. Plenty of news soon, and on the KCB .. Hit copper there and we won’t be worried about a security guard.

Zimbabwe being overrun with illegal mining operations and heavily polluting chemicals.
I wonder how much site security costs and what illegal mining takes place in KAVs area as they publish more data on the presence of gold

The drill bit does the talking, everything else is flowery language.
They should have some good results, the gold is there, just depends how dispersed it is.

The RNS on the 23 of February talks about ( amongst other things ) an expanded drilling program at hillside, the information will be used to assess the potential for Bulk-Mineable gold. Kavango is planning an additional 1,400m of diamond drilling ( to test targets identified by the IP Survey ) .. deeper this time, up to 350m. Question is .. has the survey shined a light to just below what’s been seen in the first core samples? Ben mentioned three times that visual observations from the cores are encouraging, wondering what he means by encouraging? It’s got my interest.

Kavango mining will perform continuous monitoring and evaluation at hillside, and will appoint a general manager to ensure modern health and safety standards are adopted, sounds like a step in the right direction to me. Having to store more gold is a good problem to have.

Look up Vedanta Vs Zambian villagers for a precedent over operations.
btw I was on this board since 2021 so no axe to grind, but there's a lot not stated in the RNS and presentations, which should be addressed by management, including legacy issues.

What's all the sh1t stirring about? You must be one of the LSE axe grinders whose posts keep getting moderated.Correction 1, KAV have a production contract, they don't own it at this stage.Correction 2, KAVs duty is to comply with relevant laws in the jurisdiction, there is no obligation beyond that.KAV have 52% shareholder with unlimited cash. The only bodies that care about ESG are pension funds and they don't invest in junior miners.

KAV have bought a facility, and it's now their responsibility to run it to higher western standards, and this means publishing accident rates and environmental controls.
How is the gold leached once crushed (or is it purely nuggets)and how any chemicals disposed of?
What environmental legacy issues have they also inherited?
How many miners operate in the area?
What happens when production increases and more gold is stored on site before transport?

ESG in Zimbabwe, really? There are other priorities at this moment.

Ask about the ESG rating of the operations.
Given the location, what security would they have to put in place to ramp up production?

Production capacity at hillside is currently only 600TPM, and producing 500 grams per month, the feedstock must be around 0.83 grams per ton/ So double production capacity, and then we should get to around 1 kilogram of gold per month.. Wouldn’t it be nice if Kav could use feedstock similar to what was in the old mine ? ( just for fun ) That would produce 9.24 kilograms of gold a month, either way, small part of the bigger picture.

First gold production from hillside starting immediately for Kavango sounds good to me, small start but progress. with the two billionaire investors, Kav is fully funded to implement production expansion already.. Interesting to me that one of the historic underground mines at hillside produced 18,000 ounces at 7.7 G/T. Over a modest 250-meters strike length, Hillside contains 40 gold claims, each one is about 10 hectares. Looking forward to the drilling results.

Artisanal mining? I would imagine a really high accident rate, and some unhappy workers once heavy machinery brought in.

Real reserves and now real small-scale production.

What a change from "we have this amazing resource that covers much of southern Africa but we just keep missing it with wells".

Kavango Resources plc (LSE:KAV), focused on metals exploration in Southern Africa, announces the formation of a new subsidiary, Kavango Mining (Pvt) Limited, in Zimbabwe, signaling its entry into revenue-generating gold mining operations at the Hillside Project. This initiative involves taking over existing profitable mining operations, aiming to double the current gold production to 1 kilogram per month by 2024. With initial revenue projected at approximately US$30,000 a month from March 2024, Kavango plans to upgrade the project's facilities and support local community-led gold extraction to boost near-term production. The company has also begun renegotiating terms for the option to acquire Hillside, exploring the potential for larger-scale gold deposits. CEO Ben Turney expressed enthusiasm for Kavango's first step towards becoming a significant gold producer in Zimbabwe, highlighting the potential for further production opportunities and the commitment to invest in the local community and modern mining practices.@KavangoRes

Kavango Resources* (KAV LN) 0.7p, Mkt Cap £9m – Drilling at Hillside shows promising visual core

Kavango Resources provides an update on its exploration programmes at the Hillside Gold Project in Zimbabwe.

The Company is completing IP over four prospects over 16km lines.

The IP is intended to identify sulphide bodies relating to high-grade gold-bearing shear structures.

The Company has also completed four diamond core holes over 1,306m over the four prospects.

Core visuals are reportedly encouraging and assays are due following the granting of export permission.

The Company intends to complete a further 1,400m of diamond drilling relating to the current IP survey.

Management notes its confidence in the visual observation of the recent cores, encouraging them to carry on exploring Hillside.

Drilling is also being planned at the Nara Project, with a geological mapping exercise ongoing.

90 auger holes have been drilling at the Nara tailings dump, with these currently being modelled with a resource consultant.

Nara covers four historic underground mines, which produced at average grades of 9.8g/t.
