By all accounts there is a lot going on at KAV currently which leads me to speculate that we might get some further news shortly perhaps even as soon as next week?

KAV will be at the Indaba mining conference early next month which should mean lots of meetings with potential industry partners or similar for a JV or similar for the KSZ project which of course includes Ditau.

Very interesting times!

Thanks Skiboy
Thx NDA will slow down the process
So if we have good news it will take longer that if the news are bad, am I right?

The firm has now initiated an orientation programme over Falconbridge’s carbonatites and has also signed NDAs with several significant and mid-tier mining firms concerning a possible Joint Venture (“JV”) for Ditau.

JV talks here on KSZ

Kavango Resources exploration strategy in Botswana 'appears valid and progressing well'

Potential industry partners including the MAJORS are all watching the unfolding story at the KSZ including Ditau very closely

And here on Ditau

Shortly after announcing this shift in focus, Kavango announced that it had identified ten magnetic ‘ring structures’ prospective for carbonatites within the Ditau licences. The firm has now initiated an orientation programme over Falconbridge’s carbonatites and has also signed NDAs with several significant and mid-tier mining firms concerning a possible Joint Venture (“JV”) for Ditau. To strengthen its position locally the company also acquired a second Ditau prospecting licence, increasing its ground holding considerably and demonstrating its ongoing interest in the project.

Kavango’s co-founder and non-executive director Mike Moles told MiningMaven that the firm plans to return to Ditau to confirm that carbonatites are present:

“We want to go back to the project area to do some more geophysics and soil sampling to test whether these ring structures contain carbonatites. This work will include gravity surveys since carbonatites are heavy and give a good response to this kind of testing. If we get good results, we will put holes into a few of the targets to test further.”

Moles adds that he is encouraged by the historic “hit rate” that carbonatites boast:

‘Carbonatites often occur in groups, so to find ten of them in one area is not unusual. If we can confirm their presence, then there is a very high strike rate. Around one in three carbonatites that are tested end up being mined for one or more elements. With ten in the bank, this bodes well – the odds are that at least a few will be productive.’

Next steps for Kavango at Ditau

Kavango’s focus in the short-term at Ditau is to complete its desk-based analysis of its drilling results from February and Falconbridge’s historic results. If these suggest evidence of economic deposits of REEs, this could significantly bolster the company’s hand in any discussions with potential JV partners. Given the economic potential of carbonatites and the increasing global demand for non-China sourced REEs, this project could well attract a good deal of interest. If Kavango is able to secure a JV, then the company could find itself carried through to a feasibility stage in return for selling down its stake. There is also the possibility that the firm could recoup the costs it has so far incurred at Ditau.

Any result like this would almost certainly be well received by the market and it is now up to Mike Moles and his team to complete their proposed exploration and analysis.

do you have a reference for the JV objective?

I was under impression that downhole surveys would provide ongoing feedback from when in place and switched on, technicians would be able to read it. Don't know if it would have to be passed back for interpretation a bit like when radiographers do tests they always know pretty much what's going on but still have to pass it back before it gets released to patients, well usually.

Anyway I'd think an update isn't far away and GL to you if you've added this week.

Anyone know how long it takes to get results from downhole surveys they should be starting any day now if not already started.Noticed KAV seeking JV with mid tier company for Ditau and keeping KSZ separate wonder if a major is lined up for KSZ

Kavango Resources – hunting for Rare Earth Elements

Kavango, which listed in London in July 2018, completed a two-hole drilling programme on its Ditau prospect in Botswana’s Kalahari Suture Zone in February 2019. The work fell short of the firm’s primary goal of identifying copper, nickel, and platinum group element-rich sulphide orebodies. However, it did find evidence of “fenitization”, a type of extensive alteration associated with the emplacement of carbonatites. This suggested Ditau could be highly prospective for economic mineralisation, but this time for REEs.

In the months following the initial drilling at Ditau, Kavango subsequently learned that Canadian miner Falconbridge had drilled into three carbonatites in the early 1970s less than 25km from Ditau. Not only were these carbonatites close to the surface, making them amenable to open pit mining, but the one carbonatite sampled reported high grades of niobium. Several known kimberlites have also been discovered close to Ditau. These formations are often found in association with carbonatites.

Watched MM last interview on proactive investor he states back to work middle of January complete tests then do JV to fund drilling campaign to find massive sulphides deposit.
So it’s been proven Kav in right place just need to find the stuff.

Tiny volumes and no news is all it takes.

But aside from assay results awaited from J'burg they're doing on-site EM downhole testing as soon as equipment is available, I think hoping for January.

All gone very quiet here as they have gone away to INterpret the results of drilling
so it will go either 2 ways
1) Have found loads of minerals to commercially drill in which case will need more funding or a sugar daddy farm in partner
2) Have found FA

Hopefully will be the 1st Scenario

Kavango wraps up phase one drilling at Kalahari Suture Zone

Botswana is one of the most stable and attractive mining jurisdictions in Africa
Kavango Resources PLC -

Kavango Resources PLC (LON:KAV) has completed the first phase of drilling on the Kalahari Suture Zone project in Botswana.

During this phase three of the 15 targets identified as having potential to host massive sulphide ore bodies were tested.

A total of 749 metres of reverse circulation drilling and 344 metres of diamond core drilling were completed over six holes on the three targets.

The drilling has successfully confirmed that Kavango's exploration strategy, which includes airborne electromagnetics, soil geochemical sampling, and resistivity surveying, is effective in identifying buried gabbroic intrusions and zones of conductivity.

Disseminated sulphide mineralisation has been intersected at various depths.

The core will now be analysed in Iaboratories in South Africa.

Kavango plans to survey at least three of the holes with downhole geophysics, including downhole electromagnetics.

"It is very encouraging to note that the company's exploration strategy for the discovery of a world class copper-nickel-platinum group elements magmatic sulphide deposit appears to be valid and progressing well,” said Michael Foster, chief executive of Kavango Resources.

“Disseminated sulphides have been intersected in the gabbros and the results of assays are eagerly awaited. Deposits of massive sulphide ore are still to be identified but it is hoped that downhole geophysical surveying will pinpoint the location of such deposits. A second phase of drilling will be planned in the new year to follow up assay results and the downhole surveys, as well as additional priority targets'"
