For Steve hoop sake i hope this share price Improves, he has been championing this share, year after year after year and yet ...... the share price never ceases to fall day after day. Yet, in spite of this , his ramblings appear to state he has invested nearly all his savings in this share and owns over 3 pc of the business!!

Credibility for the bulls is at an all time low, i sincerely hope for their mental health the share price picks up, or all yes every single drop of their credibility will be lost.

Contradictory assertion, Rbonnier? If there is (as indeed there may be) a need to clear out asap, why should the share price rise and give you/us all the chance before Armageddon actually happens?

If KDR had any information that could be classed as 'price sensitive', in a good, or bad way, then they have to notify the market as soon as they are aware of the fact. Any confidentiality agreement between Rio and KDR does not extend to witholding market sensitive news, even at the request of one or the other.

As an aside. I guess a few on here have spoken with KDR, myself included, but has anyone ever bothered to ring Rio and ask about their level of participation in things going on in Finland, in particular relating to the 2010 agreement with KDR? :o)

Good point drrichard, I'm also intrigued as to the location of the exploration permit for rare diamond follow up work relative to the location of Riihivaara. Does anyone know how close they are? I will look at the Tukes maps later to see, but I suspect they may be close.

Indeed, Goldeneye. Which makes you wonder why they are bothering with N Ireland doesn't it? Unless Prof is looking for a little retirement project? A bit like an allotment if you a diamond miner!

Thanks drrichard, I also get the feeling that current follow up works on the rare diamond source is either at the behest of RTZ or it may be possibly even RTZ who are doing it....have KDR dropped everything for this work? If so must be very big deal!

Yep, Goldeneye, I believe it does. Commercial necessity may override AIM regulation. Although I am sure it is not an open-ended facility. Force majeure, i.e. RTZ saying NO, would also be a reasonable defence I guess.

I found it a little strange that they announced the exploration permit 4 months after Tukes granted this. It looks from the map to be adjacent to a road, so infrastructure clearly won't be a problem. Makes one wonder how much other news do they hold back if they do not have to reveal it. I would be interested to know if the Rio Tinto confidentiality agreement provides cover for KDR, in that it allows KDR to keep a lid on news and results which they would otherwise be duty bound to release?Just a thought. Does anyone know if the confidentiality agreement provides this cover?

JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – The Finnish Mining Authority has granted Karelian Diamonds an exploration permit in the Kuhmo region, where it had discovered a green diamond at the start of the year.

The permit covers an area of 60.67 ha and is valid for four years.

Last week, the Dublin-based company announced that an extensive work programme was under way to find the source of the green diamond. The work programme follows on from the high kimberlite indicator minerals counts reported in September, which has considerably narrowed down the search area.


“I am very pleased that we have been granted an exploration permit surrounding the location of our significant discovery of a green diamond and look forward to continued results from the company’s exploration programme in the region,” commented chairperson Richard Conroy on Friday.

The diamond that Karelian discovered in January is believed to exceptionally rare. The company previously said that ODM Laboratory had processed more than 50 000 exploration till samples and that they had recovered less than 10 naturally occurring diamonds. The diamond is a clear, pale green dodecahedron and measures 0.7 mm by 0.75 mm by 0.7 mm.

The Principal Sharholders list in the header must be well out of date now. Could somebody with their finger on the pulse post a more up to date effort at some point over the weekend. Also, something to ponder. Would a low share price in KDR be of any financial advantage to Rio Tinto should some sort of deal be brokered going forward, (bearing in mind how low the current market cap is)?
