Mineral SamplingAs we know, kimberlites contain a very small proportion of diamonds by volume. Fortunately, other minerals are more plentiful within the rock, and can provide a clue to both the whereabouts of the source pipe, as well as the likelihood of it being diamondiferous. These minerals include garnet, clinopyroxene, orthopyroxene, olivine, spinel, ilmenite, magnetite, rutile, and zircon.Perhaps the most important of these minerals is garnet, or more specifically, a special member of the garnet family known as pyrope. A rare form of pyrope contains approximately 3-8% Chromium (III) Oxide and is known as a chrome-pyrope. In diamond exploration, these stones are often referred to as G9 or G10 garnets, depending on the concentration of Chromium Oxide. What makes the garnet special is that it forms under the same temperature and pressure conditions as diamond, within the same diamond stability zone in the asthenosphere. In fact, G10 garnet is frequently an inclusion inside a diamond, indicating that they form alongside each other. Finding large concentrations of G10 garnet can be a good indication of a diamondiferous kimberlite. On the Mohs hardness scale, garnet has a hardness of 8, compared with diamonds, which have a hardness of 10. As a relatively hard mineral, garnet stands up against the heavy weathering and erosion that takes place over millions of years. Therefore, many of the garnets that travelled alongside diamond within a kimberlite remain intact on the surface and can be used to pinpoint the source, or at least significantly narrow down the search. If geologists know which direction erosion or weathering is likely to have taken, such as the action of glacial movements or tidal water flows, they can use the dispersion of indicator minerals to reverse engineer the likely location of the source. The resulting mineral dispersion can be seen visually as a pathway, often referred to as an indicator mineral train.

Lets hope so getting that rocket to launch really is rocket science, had people baffled for years.

Is it time to start countdown?

All I want to know is lets say the next set of results gets us to within 10m of the source or to a point we think we know where it is. What would any exploration company do at that point - whats the next step?

Why all of a sudden the mention of sample size and weights?

thirty grains in 135kg of samples versus twenty-six grains in the previous 990kg of samples taken in the diamond target area ..... These new samples yield 53% of the total mantle derived garnets (G10’s + G9’s) from only 12% of the total material sampled to date in this area (135kg of a total of 1,125kg.

tonnes of questions .... at least 10

Hardly rocket science eh Sir G ?

Glad some folk like yourself do research.

Today's RNS quotes September's RNS which quotes January's RNS from Kuhmo.

Folk who don't research shouldn't even be let near a fruit machine.

Does this RNS relate to Riihivaara, Seitapera or Lahtojoki?

good question

The 12th Jan RNS refers to Kimberlite Boulder Derived From Undiscovered Kimberlite 2.5k to SW of Lahtojoki prompting an application for and granting of a new claim area

The recent RNS relates back to Jan 31st and the green diamond discovery based on 7 samples form the Kuhmo region in which they have Riihivaara, Seitapera, Havukkasuo and Lentiira claim areas. Lentiira has been let go, Seitapera has been dormant for a while and the only work in last few years seems to have been in and around Riihivaara. However given there has been a recent claim area in 2017 (Kuhmo 1 ML2017:0011)and they havent applied for any others in Kuhmo then that must be the place it refers to.

Ans Kuhmo

From the November 2016 Half Year Results (all figures £'000s).

Debtors & Cash 211, Current Liabilities 545 - net current liabilities therefore 334. Cash Raising 775, making net current assets 441 a year ago, adding in the new funds. They have no salable capital assets.

Operating expenses for the 6 months were 118, say 200+ in a full year since then. This leaves say a further year's available current funds. Unfortunately, they also have a 'non current liability'of 310. How far they can go in undercutting their ability to repay this (loan?) I do not know, but anyway they've likely got tops 12 months cash left currently. Leaving aside the 310, they will not be able to continue operating too far into 2018 without a deal or further fundraising. The latter would inevitably be on harsh terms.

Very happy to be advised I've got he figures wrong,

Agree, Shambaby, but the discount to current share price is likely to be fairly harsh if the placement to succeed, given how many such there now have been. The Company unfortunately likely to be over a barrel as it has nothing concrete to put on the table.

Accounts due shortly. Given the lack of cash and today's RNS,which basically says 'more work to do, chaps', I would give short odds that the Accounts will be accompanied by announcement of a further fundraiser. +/- 25p?

Smoking bandits indeed as predicted by a clever lad...

Folk seem to be missing the bit re previous sampling......and critics think they're sat there doing nothing hahahhahaa..
Just 12% sampled SO FAR.....and results pretty dandy.

Major clue as well re the "indicative of a shorter transport distance from source"....

Folk just need to research fully and comprehend what's unfolding here.....

More bandits to come ?

Shelling peas isn't it ?

Rosgeo the latest company to join the search for diamonds in the karelian craton. The area is hotting up!!!

DIAMONDS IN PRIMARY DEPOSITS IN THE ARCTIC ZONE OF KARELIA

ROSGEO will study the promising for diamonds Zarechensko-Sokoloozerskaya area. The relevant state contract has been signed by the holding company. The site is located in the Louhi Region of the Republic of Karelia.

JSC North-West PGO (St. Petersburg, the enterprise is part of the ROSGEO state holding) will directly carry out the work at the site.

‘We will have to identify promising sites of ‘bush’ rank of kimberlite bodies, Oleg Vasin, Managing Director of JSC ROSGEO, explained, ‘to carry out a complex of geological, geophysical and drilling operations, draw up a forecast map of the area diamond potential at a scale of 1:100,000, and, in case of discovery of kimberlite bodies, to evaluate the inferred resources of diamonds by the P2 category.

The project documentation has been compiled and submitted for examination. The following types of work will be completed this year: field geological and geophysical work, identification of promising local magnetic anomalies, preparation of recommendations for the direction of further geological exploration for 2018, aimed at studying promising sites of ‘bush’ rank of kimberlite bodies and magnetic anomalies of the pipe type.

The completion of all types of works, stipulated by the contract, is planned for the fourth quarter of 2019. By this time, geologists must provide an evaluation of resources and their recommendations for subsequent geological exploration in the territory.

RG-Inform, Press Center of ROSGEO JSC

ROSGEO is a Russian multi-industry geological holding company, which offers a full range of geological exploration services from regional surveys to stratigraphic drilling and subsoil monitoring. The holding company boasts unique expertise, particularly in marine geology and shelf operations.

ROSGEO was established by Decree No. 957 of the President of the Russian Federation dated 15 July 2011 on the basis of Tsentrgeologia, one of the oldest exploration companies in Russia. ROSGEO is a fully state-owned company.

The enterprises within the holding company operate in all eight federal districts of Russia. ROSGEO includes 53 enterprises located across the country. A total of more than 1,000 fields and deposits have been discovered by the holding’s companies, including major hydrocarbon and solid mineral deposits and fields such as the Astrakhan field (2.5 trillion cubic meters of natural gas), the Tengiz field (3.1 billion tonnes of oil), the Kovykta field (1.9 trillion cubic meters of natural gas), the Sukhoi Log deposit (about 2,000 tonnes of gold), the Kursk Magnetic Anomaly, and many others.

ROSGEO’s subsidiaries have rich experience in implementing projects abroad: dozens of new fields and deposits have been discovered in Asia, Europe, Africa, and Latin America.

ROSGEO clients include such companies as Gazprom, Rosneft, Lukoil, Severstal, MMC Norilsk Nickel, Itera, NLMK, Sibuglemet, BP, Chevron, and many others.

North-West Production Geological Association (former Saint-Petersburg Complex Geological Expedition) is a fast developing company providing a full range of geological exploration: surveying, prospecting, estimation, exploration, hydrological and geological/environmental investigations. In 2011 the company was acquired by Rosgeologia Holding.

Love this bit:

The potential of the kimberlite source to host diamonds is higher than previously indicated 💎🇫🇮 We know it hosts Diamonds as we found a green one!!! The 2nd most valuable colour you can find after red 🇫🇮💎 Now the KIMS are backing up the evidence of the green diamond find 💎🇫🇮
