Breached the £100 mark today for a new ATH. A pony plus , I guess. |
It hasn't always been on a high PE, I bought in 2008/9 when it was on a PE of 6-8. Obviously as it's gained scale and reputation the rating has expanded. |
Cornish - agreed. Management teams of such quality and integrity that deliver long term are hard to find, especially on AIM. |
JDG has always been on a high PE. Over the last ten years the divi has had a CAGR of around 20%, but the yield has always stayed below 1%. This year has seen the divi rise from 66p to 81p and the share price has risen by a similar percentage. Clearly the market sees this as a quality company and I can’t disagree. Having risen from £1 to £100 in about 14 years this has to be one of the best shares on AIM. |
It's been a fairly common criticism of JDG forever. I seem to remember that I thought the valuation was pretty full when I bought at 25 quid in Nov 2018 :) |
Do you have a detailed analysis to support that statement? |
Unbelievably overvalued, even if still as growth stock. |
£100 a share, nice |
Another acquisition. California based Bossa Nova Vision is acquired for $1.6m from existing cash balances and is expected to be immediately earnings enhancing. Nice.👍 |
Acquisition of Henniker Scientific Limited for a maximum of £2.3m, funded from existing cash balances. It is expected to be immediately earnings enhancing. Another small deal by JDG with no borrowing or share dilution. Excellent. |

Quite a bit of selling ahead of tomorrows results. In January the company said 'the Board anticipates that Adjusted earnings per share for 2022 will be modestly ahead of current market expectations'. We'll soon see how modest. |
goatman....yes we all enjoyed those dinners but we lost the venue....it is incredibly upmarket now and to be honest it was quite a challenge to get companies every month even though it was free to attend.
Virtual shows are accessible for everyone and we have three or four companies presenting plus so much more in the four hours and no need to leave home !
The three day conferences are popular for networking and meeting face to face so there is something for everyone.

Sadly I am still in RTC and that one hurts. They do not all grow into a Judges sadly |
I would like to admit that I have bought many shares that are now worth less than 1/50th of my buying price. Marconi, Carillion , Interserve to name a few... So a mere 50% up here for me is a triumph.... |
Davidosh, I used to enjoy those Mello dinners. Will they return, or is your online subscription Mello permanently replacing it? I can see issue with size! Do you still hold RTC? G |
Oh no I clearly have underperformed…;.my entry into JDG was August 2011 paying 399p…. But then again if all my other investments had similarly “underperformed” I don’t think I would have much cause to complain LOL
Absolutely fantastic performance by the management team led by DC 👏👏128079;👏8079; |
I bought JDG much more recently (200+% so far), but knew of it following its regular appearances in the Techinvest newsletter. It certainly is an AIM gem not only due to the sp's long term performance but also in respect of management's treatment of shareholders. |
I also purchased in 2009 paying under £1.50. It is my best ever investment by a long way and is now yielding 50% at cost. Also in 2019 they paid a special dividend of £2 which returned more than my original outlay in one go. I have to thank the founder of this thread, because it was here that my attention was first drawn to this company. |
wad collector....I first bought in 2006 and David Cicurel first presented at Mello in 2009 when as you see below the share price was logged at £1.78.5 He presents the results every six months and would attend our dinners almost every time. He really values his shareholders.
Judges Scientific (JDG) 19-Oct-2009 178.5 now 8,800.00
A true 50 bagger especially when you add in dividends which would improve the case even further if compounding and buying more shares. It is certainly in my top five investments of all time
Anyone who meets David cannot fail to trust him and back him to achieve well for shareholders. |
