One Asian analyst last week (believe Bloomberg), stated one reason for the recent charge upwards, is that India is now seen to be a safe/defensive place to invest should there be a US slowdown. They have worked out that India have very small limited export exposure risk here.

Thanks - on the road at the moment not hooked up to usual news sources. Another bump on the road I suspect then.

If you want to leverage up take out a spread bet on JII. Finspreads certainly cover them.

Lucky I got out last week! But more luck than judgement as I'm no expert.
On the Bloomberg news a while ago they were saying the Indian Government may have to backtrack on these new regulations just as the Thai Government did last December when they announced similar restrictions on foreign investment. Have a look at the SET and see how that has bounced back.
I have these on a very close watch now for when or if they bounce back.

Market down 9% on restrictions on foreign investment. 30-40p drop here today.

I got out of these last week as the rise since August has been spectacular to say the least. Can't help but think it's a little too much and happy to take the profit.
There was an analyst on Bloomberg this morning talking about Indian stocks. He also thought that they were high but couldn't say if they were over valued. If he doesn't know the f can I?!!
What he did say was that India has the potential for alot of private investors to jump in, much like China has over the last 18 months, and drive their markets higher.
If it does appear sustainable I will be back in, just as I will if and when there is any major downward correction.

I've been in and out of it for the last few years. Currently long about £20k's worth in my SIPP, very nice rise recently.

I'm pleased to see this moving again after wallowing around the 300 mark for so long, but this weeks rise seems a bit too steep to be sustainable.

We'll see
