maxmarilli, no they don't know something. If they did, it would be illegal insider trading and they would go to jail if caught. Do you really think someone risks jail for a few thousand quid? "they" are just another punter like you and me.

jimclark, of course there is no suspension. I never said there would be one. Thursday's RNS clearly said that the bids would be evaluated and another announcement would follow in due course. Of course it will take time to evaluate the bids, so there won't be a suspension any time soon. It is utter nonsense to say that if all bids valued the equity at zero, the shares would have to be suspended immediately. The shares will not be suspended until an actual deal is struck, which may take weeks.

I am not galled about anything. I have re-shorted at 0.5 and I will simply wait for the inevitable: a deal that values the shares at nil. It's free money.

Jimclark, none of the interest parties is bidding for the equity. Read the RNS:

"a number of parties have submitted offers to acquire the whole or substantially all of the business and assets of the Group. JJB continues to hold discussions with a number of parties but it is unlikely that any value will be attributable to the ordinary shares."

"the whole ... of the BUSINESS or ASSETS" - not the shares

"it is unlikely that any value will be attributable to the ordinary shares"

jimclark, the whole of the BUSINESS does not not mean the equity. It means what it says, the whole of the BUSINESS.

baxtea, Stafford have not "emerged". All bids were submitted last week as per JJB's RNS. That is the same RNS that said the shares are worthless.

Can only mean that there is a bit of competition. What did the announcement say again?

It does say "the whole" of the business, doesn't it. I think that means the equity as well.
