17/9/2012 07:14 | A decent opportunity to exit first thing, rampers were giving it the big un on LSE but looking silly now. Never good to gloat. | baxtea1
17/9/2012 07:12 | Can never understand why, when the BOARD OF DIRECTORS tells shareholders their shares are worthless, those SHAREHOLDERS refuse to believe them and think some miracle will happen. | sir rational
17/9/2012 07:10 | before lunch/??????????? | string333
17/9/2012 07:09 | Agree get out while u can imo. Suspension could happen at any time not just via a 7am rns | knigel
17/9/2012 06:55 | There is always money to be made on a bounce..... in and out... | sapper2476
17/9/2012 06:49 | lol that's crazy Sapper but good luck not just a falling knife but a falling chainsaw that will lop your head off ;-) | sir rational
17/9/2012 06:33 | Could be, but i have moved funds across to share account, because if not, i will be buying on the inevitable dip the MM's put on here. | sapper2476
17/9/2012 06:32 | Could still be a rns before the opening | knigel
17/9/2012 06:20 | Said it might take a day or two longer... Holders have another unbelievable opportunity to get a few quid back. | sir rational
16/9/2012 21:13 | You're not the Dashing Rat - he was class lol | sir rational
16/9/2012 20:56 | I give up with you. Of course JD Sports, Sports Direct and every other high street sports retailer are not affected by internet sales. Its all a pointless argument any as we both agree its curtains for JJB. Suspension RNS tomorrow or not that is the question. must dash. | pwhite73
16/9/2012 20:16 | Improving market share does not mean a retailer has not been adversely affected by this recession. Indeed I'm glad that Aldi and Lidl got mentioned. Primark and Matalan should have been thrown in as well because the successful concept of these stores should have been mirrored exactly at JJB. Cheap, good value for money items in a time of frugality. A succession of incompetent management is solely to blame for the demise of this once popular brand name. | pwhite73
16/9/2012 20:08 | Does aldi sell sports wear and jjb tins of salmon? Bad product range and low margins imo | knigel
16/9/2012 19:46 | Of course its poor management that has led to the demise of JJB. The company has been well funded compared to its competitors (one of the richest men in the world funded this company FFS). Very stiff competion has been faced by all and there is not a single retailer that has not been adversely affected by the economic downturn. | pwhite73
16/9/2012 19:38 | It seems clear that the inevitable has happened - prospective buyers now know that JJB's retail estate is, and will be, loss making. It's not poor management (least not in the last couple of years). It's underfunding, very stiff competition, and an economic slowdown that has done for JJB. There's just too much debt off the balance sheet in their lease commitments for an outright purchase. Anyone who has closely followed JJB's history over recent years should know this is now about keeping the profitable outlets and their staff in business - everyone else loses and that includes the shareholders. | sir rational
16/9/2012 19:29 | Not necessarily going to happen that way, though distinctly possible. My money would be on suspension Tuesday or Wednesday - it has been well trailed that no deal has been struck as of Friday and these things take time. Could be another incredible opportunity for holders to sell and make a few quid back which they will inevitably refuse to take, hoping for some kind of miracle. | sir rational
16/9/2012 19:22 | Suspension on Monday? That's my take on things. IMHO dyor | honiton
16/9/2012 19:15 | That's all right. Tool it is. | sir rational
16/9/2012 18:31 | I meant Tool (sorry) | knigel
16/9/2012 18:29 | There are always winners and losers. I will have to ascertain if i can short within my sipp as it is an investment took i have not used | knigel
16/9/2012 18:27 | Knigel, yes they do. There is usually a wait until the administration is finished, but if the shares are worthless in the end, a short position will make a 100% profit. I shorted JJB again on Friday at 0.5p after I saw the RNS announcement from Thursday (having missed it on Thu as I was away). This was virtually "free money", just available for me to take from the retail punters, so I could not resist. | bubble pricker
16/9/2012 18:24 | I sold out with small loss after several days as i felt it was too riaky to stay in. Hope no one here has too much tied up. (Btw. cant believe aat is still listed) | knigel |
