Lot less IPO activity unfortunately. Retail trading activity will also be lower. Still remains a good solid dividend stock.

Thug, just me or John also who pose'd the question and I replied.

Hi steelwatch,
Re - ISA - no matter who introduced it or tinkered around the edges, you can't deny the fact that it helps people with money get richer leading to the ever widening gap between rich and poor.

Keep clapping everyone

A book recommendation -
Written over a hundred years ago and not much has changed. I'm not a painter (as depicted in the book) but similar and I see this story and the characters within, in my daily work / life.

ten -

"In his Budget speech in July 1997, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Gordon Brown, announced that the new Labour Government would be developing new Individual Savings Accounts (ISAs) which would build upon the experience of TESSAs and PEPs and encourage people, through tax relief, to raise the level of their long-term savings. The new scheme was to have particular emphasis on encouraging those on low incomes to save, and was to be in place for the 1999/2000 tax year.

The necessary Statutory Instruments enabling the regulations to be implemented were laid before Parliament for approval in July 1998 and resulted in the Individual Savings Account Regulations 1998.

At the same time, legislation was introduced to prevent further subscriptions to PEPs or the opening of any new TESSAs after 5 April 1999. PEPs existing at that date continued to operate under the PEP Regulations unless the investor closed the plan or died. Although PEPs were no longer open to new subscriptions, they continued to be managed under the PEP Regulations until 5 April 2008.

As part of a series of changes implemented from 6 April 2008, PEPs were automatically reclassified as Stocks and Shares ISAs from that date.
(PEP Regulations were effectively repealed from 2008/09)"

Hi John, et-al,
A working class socialist is what I will always be.

IMHO - ISA's are just another tool to widen the gap between the middle-class / Rich and the poor. The oldest saying on the book is 'money makes money' and if you don't have any to start with ......

I wonder if now is a goaldilocks time for brokers!. Interest rates on money deposited are higher and the FTSE is nearing an all time high, which indicates - but not confirms - that people are buying back in on the hope inflation has peaked.

Time will tell all.

Up to you tenapen but for me socialism doesn't mean letting other people spend my money rather than using it where I can see some good. Like you I have invested money tax paid from earnings from hard work. I don't feel any compulsion to pay more tax than I need to and will take advantage of such tax breaks that the chancellor gives to encourage investing. I hope you might change your mind.
All the best for '23

I bought some at 107 and sold at 170, was watching to buy them back again but overslept. No worries still have a load paying a healthy divi into my ISA. Have you got your isa sorted yet, capital gains and divi tax allowances going down.

And the share price recovered. Once the sellers were flushed out, Must be kicking themselves now. Nothing like social media to create misinformation and demonstrate a lack of comprehension. Hence my earlier comment.

That RNS sure generated a load of nonsense. Some people aren't equipped to invest that was obvious.
