Susannah Kempe is head of investor relations, dealing with the City and their PR company. She certainly knows how to impress the City by putting her money where her mouth is! £210,000 of her own money is a fair point to make that she thinks the City have undervalued the company.

I bought some more yesterday at 289/290. I don't think they would let the academic side go on its own as it leaves the rest too exposed to a downturn. The main attraction of the larger group is its blend of exposure.

Interesting comment from one analyst saying that Gilbertson's departure might be good news in the long term as it might make an offer more likely as the board will be maybe now take a different attitude to, say, an approach from Springer. However, Springer may now only be interested in the academic aspects and so will need to link up with a partner.

The most likely would be private equity funds. Either Apax or Cinven/Candover - both of which already own substantial rivals. I don't think they could take them out below 450p and possibly higher.

If someone did go for them, who do you think it would be and what sort of price do you think they would offer?

Another bit of bad news. David Gilbertson is leaving. Perhaps the market got wind of this and it is part of the reason the price has been dropping. If this drops to around the £3 level I think someone will go for them.

An article in the Telegraph today
"Informa, publisher of the Lloyds List maritime newspaper, plans to spend £60 million on acquisitions in 2008 to expand its energy coverage"
must surely be wrong. They have stated their target for the year to reduce their debt and there has been no announcement re the potential acquisitions. Given the market is already worried about their debt and the exit of Tony Foye, it is having the expected effect on the share price.

An article in the FT today suggests that the City is worried about the level of debt and the price will therefore not recover until confidence returns to the market. This is despite the fact that, at yesterday's price, they are on a p/e of only 10 for 2008.

More than that, they've taken another dive today. What does the company need to do for the market to start taking interest?

Well, I was half right. The results are good but the market still isn't interested. Very disappointing

Price beginning to pick up before the results. I think the results will reinforce the fact that they are trading well and the market has got it wrong.

Why has the price slumped so much in recent weeks? The company seems to be in good shape. Surely there must be a bounce back at some stage - SOON hopefully!

Good trading update today and the price still falls. A story in the newspapers over the weekend that hedge funds are shorting FTSE 250 companies may be having something to do with it.

Tony Foye, who leaves the company at the end of the year, has now bought 15,000 in September at 506p and 23,000 yesterday at 427. He obviously thinks the shares are underpriced !
