30/12/2008 13:52 | I think it must be known to some people otherwise the share price would not go up! IMO | umitw
30/12/2008 13:52 | imperial, it's when the bid and offer price cross, due to the bid rising too quickly (and can happen when the share price is falling with the offer dropping). It goes into auction, trading is suspended (that is, order book trading, some times you can still buy/sell through market makers) whilst traders position themselves, then a single uncrossing trade (appears as a 'U' trade) settles all crossed orders. Hope that this helps. | davius
30/12/2008 13:52 | imperial3 google SETS and uncrossed trades, it's too complicated to explain here, I don't fully understand it after reading several articles about it. | katsy

30/12/2008 13:49 | Can somebody explain the mechanics of what is happening now? i.e.auction. | imperial3
30/12/2008 13:49 | Haven't taken profit too early an hour ago this seems priced too high now. There's only a max 80p loss and a profit of 600? on failure by going short. | alexx
30/12/2008 13:49 | Could have done Stuart but would have had to tie up two lots of 10-20% margin plus some spreadbet firms (eg IG) have not allowed new positions long or short for last few days. Not really much to be gained from that compared to selling. | yuka
30/12/2008 13:48 | Yuka, I'm with you - being told you're "..Irresponsible & selfish.." is hilarious even for ADVFN standards. Nonetheless - good luck holders. | spectoacc

30/12/2008 13:45 | You could have opened shorts to hedge your exposure | stuart14
30/12/2008 13:44 | Debbie - sorry but while useful for many the trading facility is meaningless for short-term traders who want quick access and people who trade via CFDs and spreadbets. Unlikely scenario but see how easy it is to sell via the trading facility if they don't get 90%. Price would be 500p before you could get filled. As for being selfish well sorry trading is by its nature a selfish occupation. | yuka |
