It seems that any positive comment that I make has an adverse effect upon the share price I will watch quietly for a while.

This has never been 'dead', just not meeting the (rather optimisitic) growth targets. 'Tis profitable and growing, nothing wrong with that in my book.

DL,

I suspect that you're right. You'll know from the thread that I am pro ILX and hence continue to see a bright future - I'll say it again, I feel that the recent Mount Lane disappointment is more than priced in.

A big sell gone through perhaps? Why such a drop?

Extract from a recent tips email 'Peter Shearlock's small cap stock picks' associated with Growth Company Investor:-

"ILX: not what we wanted to hear

Continuing problems at subsidiary Mount Lane – part of the best practice division – have forced training group ILX to put out a pretty severe profit warning. The year-end tally is now going to be £1 million short of the £2.6 million looked for. The disappointment, which is all the more marked given a reassuring trading update three months ago, has sent the shares down to 72.5p – which compares with a recommendation price here in November 2004 of 92.5p. Even the latest note from the firm's own broker, Charles Stanley, has an exasperated tone to it.

But this is not the time to sell ILX. The financial services training business, CTG, which was bought last year, is turning out to be a gem. Mount Lane's problems look to be people related, having started when the company's commercial director quit. That should be possible to fix. In the meantime, earnings of around 6p for the year just ended, followed by 7p-plus in 2007/8, underpin the current price."

I think that this supports most of the comments espoused on this thread, wrt the extent of fall vs news significance.

DL you might see me pound cost averaging a buyback rather than in one go-could trigger other people to buy but who knows.I am hoping to complete back end of this week-already had due diligence and IR approval with funding in place it is hopefully a formality but I am not holding my breath-it was supposed to be completed before Easter.

Orvil,
The question is, to wait until June (results) or not? The share price is likely to drift towards results and although already factored in, could drop again when results are announced. Market ignorance reacting to short term news and all that. I am going to sit on the fence until June unless I start to see some large buying before dipping back in.

The £0.2M shortfall in profit expectation has been more than accounted for in this morning's SP, although in true Market fashion we look set to take a beating. Hopefully the Directors' anticipation of early deal sign-ups for ML in FY08 will help next year's figures at least.

Looking back on the interims, I am a little agrieved that the Management are very happy to remind us now of the fact that they then highlighted the 'very disappointing ML' position, but they do seem to have forgotten 'their confidence in recovery' also mentioned in the interims. Selective memory!

Nevertheless, I'm here for the long haul and feel that despite the ML problems, this probably offers better value today, given the SP, than it did last week. Certainly a very measly PER with good growth prospects.

The market was just expecting too much maybe. Still a profitable business which is growing..... Being talked down so that the price becomes exceedingly actractive to those in the know (in my opinion only of course, cynic that I am). This will soon be heading towards 200p a share (IMHO) with a nice profit for those taking the plunge. DYOR and all that, and WDIK etc...

RNS 11/01/07. ILX Group confident of meeting FY market estimates after encouraging Q3 trade.

RNS 13/04/07. ILX sees FY operating profit significantly below market expectations.

A pos statement 2 months before very poor FY results.

Not sure about anyone else but I would say that we have been led up the garden path here. Needs to be ivestigated IMHO.

Damn - I got caught holding these today. As soon as you see the words "disappointing" and "significantly-below" in a trading statement, then you know its time to think very carefully indeed about cutting your loses.

Operating profits are now expected
to increase from #1m for the year ended 31 March 2006 to #1.6m for the year to
March 2007 but nevertheless will be significantly behind current market
expectations.

Nice to see Company employees taking up an incentive scheme offer. Also, I presume that the 80K Buy showing this morning was largely responsible for the recent up-blip - if not, we might see a further rise today.
