'Ccnfirms intention to pay the final dividend'... I'm not sure why that merited a separate bullet point in the trading update, given that it was only declared a month a go. A trading update that said 'oh by the way, that dividend that we announced last month, we've changed our mind' would be pretty rare imo. |
ii trading update coverage today:
Idox PLC - Reading, England-based management software provider - Says first quarter of financial year ending in October 31 saw a continued robust performance, in line with board expectations. Notes growth in underlying revenue and earnings year-on-year, while net debt was materially reduced to GBP18 million at the end of January from GBP27.1 million a year ago. "We have performed well in the first quarter of the year. Expansion within our existing client base alongside new customer wins has translated to underlying revenue growth. As we further simplify the group, we expect to continue improving revenue visibility, earnings and cash generation," says Chief Executive David Meaden. Says it is confident in its prospects and confirms intention to pay the final dividend in respect of the 2020 financial year of 0.3 pence. |
“establishment of in-house M&A function”
YUK! |
I do like the continuing improvement in the cash position.....cash positive April 2021. I didn't sell on the possible bid news I expected an improvement on offer price that did not materialise so called it wrongly however happy to hold and its still a profitable position. |
While the cash situation is very good, it is not the trading update that does anything to support the share price at this level imo.
TRCML - I think you post is spot on and with respect should have been taken into account when the initial offer was made. Most are skilled staff that can transfer their skills as and when they wish.
I would get back in at around 50p as it is still a solid investment imo but I see little growth prospects in the so, all one can hope for is increased dividends for the time being. Not the best of returns on that level either. |

I decided to call it a day and sell my holding. I had contemplated selling when the DD bid was announced but hung on. However, having read IDOx's latest results more carefully, what struck me was how much store DM places in the loyalty of the employees; I think that their collective reaction to being taken over was a sticking point. |
Agreed Smithie6 - buyers must be hoping for another bidder to come along/
Once volumes drop off, if there is no sign of another suiter then it may well fall back. |
1p divi ~1.6% yield not attractive at all.
"divi cover of x6" not true at all.
so, reading your post there are no attractions at all to buying IDOX shares at 60p !! |
can anyone promote these shares to me at the price of 60p
I see that the cap. value is about 4x turnover (& 60p is over priced) & adjusted EPS is phps ~2p, so 60p looks expensive.
& my understanding of growth is that there isn't any !, or its tiny.
Am I missing important info ?? |
Agree with the long term investment views here and delighted to get back in this morning :-) |
Techno20 - I have been in and out of IDOX since at least 2004 but pleased to have not waited around for more than some thought they may receive from IDOX bidders.
Still, as I think there is only limited growth in the share price over the next six months or so, the share represents nothing more than a safe haven at around 60p imo.
At 50/55p a good investment - so I will wait until the tide turns again before adding, as I had hoped to do. If not good luck to you and all. |
Anybody seen D&D’s announcement? |
Clocktower - Given Covid receding, the market continuing upwards, disposals reducing debt and simplifying the business, IMV we should be higher than pre-bid levels. I’m now fully loaded, so looking for a fast recovery! But been in these for a decade and happy to wait patiently. |
I felt the company was worth more than 75p take out price. However if that is the price a suitor was prepared to offer then the market price today offers very good value indeed for a LTH. |
Techno20, I doubt the share price will reach 60p in fact I hope it sinks back towards 50p/55p the sort of levels it was at previous to the offer, as it is once again just a very good long term investment. |
Delighted that I am able to get back into this well performing share at this lower level.
A result. |
Agreed. Moving back up. Reckon we’ll be at or close to 60p by cob. |
Would IDOX employee wanted to have worked for a company by the name of 'Dye" in the prevailing climate? Chances are many key personnel would've sought jobs elsewhere. |
Someone got a bargain. 500k @ 50p pre opening this morning 7.44am! Decent show of confidence! |
Agree. Tone of announcement suggests BOD held the line on value. Positive commentary and further disposal suggests drop this morning is overdone. Have topped up. Have to say I’m fed up with the number of decent U.K. tech companies being sold out at the moment, so on balance not so bad news. Selling out to a Leveraged US corp on a buying spree I suspect may well have not ended happily. |
I reckon Idox wanted 80p. |
