Well unlike yourself Tournesol I skim read the RNS and did not spot the contradiction. It seems our BOD did the same.

definetly a typo - would have been in the highlights if that is what the RNS had intended.

From yesterday's RNS:-

"the Company is expected to return forecasted dividends of £12.3 million (USD 15.7 million) in 2024, representing 0.2565 pence per share per quarter"

"as part of its total return model, the Company remains committed to delivering a sustainable monthly dividend"

Take your pick Tournesol…

Fanny you toe rag and big bucket of @rse – get back into your cage with bumble!

But to answer the question on what’s my hypothesis now - not that you would understand:

From yesterday’s update:

Negatives:

No news on any acquisitions or other transactions that some were expecting

Lower than EXPECTED forecasted production and NOI – this should not have been any surprise - if you had taken the Q4 production numbers and factored in the 15% corporate decline rate – the forecasted production and NOI are exactly where they should be. The only way they were going to avoid a year-on-year production decline was by acquisition.

Positives:

A very strong capital program which should see production closing out the year at above 21,000 boepd

WHI increased their price target – so they took the update positively

2 Montney Wells to be drilled in H2 – these are Oil weighted wells and i3e’s neighbours have been drilling wells that exceed 1000 boepd.

I3e confirmed its intention to payout the dividend at current levels for the remainder of the year.

I3e to commence its Simonette Montney pad development drilling in Q1 2025 – this could move the needle materially. This is where they drill multiple wells from a single pad or nearby pads significantly reducing the unit cost of each well. I believe this signals their intention to commence a significant drill program initially with 3 or 4 wells or more in the Montney in H1 2025 – 4 x 1000 boepd Oil Weighted – lovely jubbly and remember they have around 200 potential drilling locations identified

Conclusion:

The market did not understand the update and massively overreacted to yesterday’s RNS which in my opinion was not bad and in fact had several positives - WHI seemed to think so anyway.

I think once the market has digested the news – the share price will start drifting back up particularly if and when AECO pricing starts getting back to more normal levels.

On over drive.
It’s sad to see someone so obsessed with a company where he lost his investment several years ago to be posting at 03:40 and 05:00 in the morning.
One would think he has taken out another short.
He was warned last time not to do so and the price rose 50% with a correction yesterday.
12 wells are being drilled I do not class this as lack of drilling.
Not many small oil companies would be spending or have the funds to do so.
Iam surprised we haven’t heard of the opportunity to acquire additional wells or more from the likes of Razor but as the closing date was the 13th March for companies to bid for its assets it would be to early to announce.
Yesterday we had a large seller who helped to cause the rise in the first place.
I calculated he sold the 2 million he recently invested this helped to cause investors to sell.
As a long term investor I will continue to buy for the dividend and anything else is a added bonus.
Will we see the shares go up depends on the next results/Rns

The only way is down here! The lack of drilling is the killer! Drilling itself is risky never mind being lucky enough to strike black gold! Relying on the markets for high prices is also folly! I’m afraid this will spiral downwards yet again!

The smart money will be buying at these levels now. Oil will stay strong and AECO will start to improve. All the poor poker players have shown their hands or folded now. I see 11p as a solid support level now that today's sellers have gone. This will prove a bit too tough for traders now and I do not believe anybody will be taking short positions. Happy to add at these levels now and will accumulate a few more over the coming couple of weeks.

Broker WH Ireland upgraded its valuation of Canada-focused oil and gas company i3 Energy PLC while providing positive comments on recent developments.

"We perceive the company is bulking up for that significant growth opportunity for which scale, and commensurate financial strength, are the name of the game," said WH Ireland.

Earlier today, i3 announced its capital budget and production guidance for 2024, earmarking US$50.9 million to spend drilling 15 wells across its operations in Canada.

“We see the company’s 2024 drilling efforts culminating in strong production growth into winter 2024/2025, just in time to capture the robust natural gas prices expected for that period,” said analysts.

WH Ireland expects gas prices to increase “significantly” in the mid-term now that the futures market for North American natural gas “has found its floor”.

For these reasons, the broker has lifted its i3 price target by 5p to 21.2p, reflecting “our positive appreciation of i3 Energy’s judicious strategy, combined with the inherent benefits of significantly rising natural gas prices in North America”.

Shares were trading at 11.08p on Thursday afternoon.
