These have been on my watch list for a while as a quality company. If pbt is say £340m that's an eps of 45p, broker consensus prior to today was 49p (I assume that's at mid point of their pbt range?). Puts it on a PE of 14x, which IMO seems at the lower end of its historical rating. Like most though they are struggling at the moment.I too recently had a new kitchen, I also went for Wren and the fitter didn't have a very good word for Howdens, not the product but how the business operates - yes anecdotal. Recall Phil Oakley did an article in March on HWDN, was a while back but may be useful:Https://knowledge.sharescope.co.uk/phil-oakley/

Hello all. First look at HWDN this morning.

My atention was drawn here by an article from Richard Beddard of Interactive Investor. I have a ii SIPP and hence receive their emails. Richard (holds HWDN) places Howdens at number two in his list of 40 stocks in his 'decision engine'.

So, I thought I'd have a look.

I know of the company - 18 months ago I had a Wren kitchen fitted although briefly looked at Howdens with a view to pointing our builders in that direction. Wren won.

This link should take you to the Richard Beddard article:

Berenburg shares your view - from Citywire this morning

Berenberg tips Howden

Kitchen supplier Howden Joinery (HWDN) can grow ‘substantially’ from here, making it a ‘medium-term winner’, says Berenberg.

Analyst Robert Chantry retained his ‘buy’ recommendation and target price of 870p on the stock, which rose 1%, or 6.6p, to 703.4p at the end of last week.

Following a meeting with the chief financial officer of the group, Chantry said he made no changes to his numbers but noted the ‘growth initiative and the international opportunity’ the company was pursuing this year.

‘Overall, we expect Howden to outperform a tough UK repair, maintenance and improvement market through full-year 2023 and, on a multi-year view, we think newly opened and refurbished depots alongside pricing power and the broader market position should help the business grow substantially from current levels, supported by strong cash generation and balance sheet,’ he said.

‘Howden currently trades on 11.1 times full-year 2024 embedded value/ebit and 13.3 times price/earnings.̵7;

Thank you very helpful, I don't suppose you would know how long it is on for as I won't have funds to buy the kitchen (it is already designed and their service is excellent) until November so hope it lasts longer than just October, plus with the funds arriving it should also give some spare to add to my HWDN holding!

Quality kitchens, quality company, used them a few times before, never let me down!

Howden delivers special dividend surprise

Howden Joinery (HWDN) delivered a surprise special dividend and has started 2021 positively despite customers’ concern about tradespeople entering their homes, says Peel Hunt.

Analyst Clyde Lewis retained his ‘add’ recommendation and target price of 715p on the kitchen company, which closed down 3.9%, or 28p, at 696p on Friday.

Full year results were in-line with revised expectations and a surprise special dividend of 9.1p was announced to make up for the cancelled 2019 final dividend. That decision ‘also reflects the stronger than expected balance sheet’, said Lewis.

‘The full year 2021 has got off to a good start despite some caution from customers on having tradespeople in their homes,’ he said.

‘The group has flagged some cost pressures – commodities and freight – but these should be mitigated by price rises and lower warehouse costs.’
