There are that many story tellers in this stock now that they are all confusing each other.

Love that Cyberbub (FFS the dual-personality ramper-deramper has turned up again)

Assuming this is another rumour, then the price should float back down like the last rumour two weeks ago. I'll definitely be buying back in sub £1.05

People who are serious about a bid don't talk to journalists about it beforehand.

I would say it's a solid story, they've quoted the actual guy who wants to buy it.The trouble is that it's very early stage, he hasn't got any funding in place so it could still be years before anything happens.

Garbage story. There seems to be a group intent on getting Home Retail's share price up before the next profit warning.

Thanks Jonny. We will see when results come out what effect took place. My info was second hand but I judge it robust.I am sure IT system coped, it's a pretty robust oneFor those interested in retail, l went to Majestic today, quite a few lines I wanted out of stock, no certainty of when more will come. Not very inspiring given Xmas rush not started yet. New look store with weird signage and less stock overall was not impressive

Apparently, at peak time over 1000 orders a minute were running through their systems, so I'd say that they were pretty robust imo!

Hi Ayl30 so word on the street is different, Argos broke new records, the systems remained stable, some customers experienced a slow connection as the web site became busy, but no repeat of last year or the last few weeks when system outages prevented customers buying.

Yes there was a task force in the head office working around the clock to keep everything going. The whole of head office, except those needed for operational support were sent to stores, but I'm not aware of a recall of buyers or changes to prices to react to competitors, in fact most of the offers were run for a number of days and only finish tomorrow ie they are still on now!!

What all of the above means for profitability is a different question. There is still 24 days left to Christmas so there is more to play for.

Fingers crossed

Re: double eh? If website crashed, means less discounted sales on Blk Friday, hence less profit impact!

IMO vs. last year I believe sales will be up, profits will be down. There is some good news here, if shoppers stayed away on Black Friday, it means they will still have to do their shopping, so there are still sales to go after, hopefully not at prices which are a loss.

News articles suggest it did crash. Any links that support your view that it didn't and how they did?.Experts also suggest there may be more downside for retailers due to Black FridayhTTp://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/news/article-3337729/Experts-predicting-slew-profits-warnings-retailers-wake-massive-discounting-Black-Friday.htmlDD

Didn't crash, high volume of customers so had a timer for checkout so as not to put too much strain on transactions. Quite clever idea really.
