Need a few more days to see if this momentum is maintained. Many PM analysts say we are close to the BBBIIIIIIIGGGGGG move in the PM's !

Last time Zak "read the charts" on HOC it did not quite turn out as planned. Perhaps 2nd time lucky?



The view now in the wake of the latest gap to the upside through the February resistance zone is that while there is no end of day close back below the 50 day moving average at 251p – the trailing stop loss – we COULD be treated to a top of May 2016 price channel target as high as 400p over the next 3-4 months.

Well we certainly know how the Trump years are going to go now! He is going to have a tough time getting anything through. I see he is now pushing tax reform as being next as that is what the market is really waiting for. I think we all know how that is going to go. I'm sure the algos have picked up on that already so will be interesting to see if the market gaps down on monday before returning to its upward momentum. There is still a long way to go yet. I expect the market to be hitting new highs within 2-3 weeks. The miners will probably be weak as its option expiration week so expect the usual shenanigans.

From the gold thread where it is sometimes easy to miss things owing to the "noise":

In October 2016, my clients increased their portfolio holdings in gold and gold mining shares to a) the largest ever and b) the largest part of portfolios.

So, I’ve been putting our money where my mouth is.

I must add the following note of caution.

There has to be at least a 40% probability that we have at least one more lurch down in deflation in the short to medium terms.

In that scenario, I might find that – even if gold and miners do well (possibly exceptionally well) for months – I have to divest of the holdings.

In such a deflationary scenario, there is a case for gold going back to below December 2015 levels, i.e. below $1,050/oz and perhaps even as low as $500.

For now, though, I and my clients are heavily long. Nothing is forever and we must adjust portfolios according to market conditions, NEVER what we believe should be!
