12/9/2012 01:59 | Folderboy, That Patent, EP2494426, has not yet been granted yet so don't get too excited. If you click on INPADOC legal status in the pane on the left, you will see that it has PRS (Patent Register Service) code 17P which means that a request for examination has been filed. Examination can take many months or even a year or two before the Patent Application is granted or rejected by the European Patent Office. Of course, Applications for the same invention have been made in other jurisdictions (CA - Canada, CN - China, WO - World IP Office) so it is possible that it has already been granted elsewhere. Tracking down its current status worldwide is not a quick job. Note that WIPO does not grant a Patent, though it does carry out searches to ensure that the invention is patentable. It is a way of establishing priority, who invented it first. Once WIPO publish it, Application must still be made in each jurisdiction where you want protection of your IP. John | john of groats | |

26/7/2012 13:41 | The Orb in another guise. When the Orb was announced by NXT and Hybra three years ago it created quite a buzz: I must admit that I thought then that it was a winner, but things went awefully quiet after that (in a wider sense, just aweful). Now we can see that James Lewis did not lose faith in the idea. Perhaps, with a technically savvy CEO, this time it really will be a winner. Meanwhile, Hybra Advanced Technologies has not given up on the technology: John | john of groats |
