"a distant glimmer of hope"

A good basis to hold a stock!

I saw much to be pleased with in the announcement concerning rationalisation of the facilities, but little concerning production figures and sales. On the whole the information points towards a distant glimmer of hope, but little in terms of short to medium rewards.

I would imagine that only the die hard investors remain at this stage, with perhaps a few being tempted to take a modest highly speculative punt.

It has not done anything for the share price. I guess it will just keep falling.

Board Board Changes – Appointment of Group Commercial Director

· Progress Report on Integration of Loseley and Granelli

Hill Station plc, the manufacturer of Hill Station, Loseley, Granelli and private-label ice creams, today announces the creation of a new role of Group Commercial Director and a progress report on the integration of Granelli McDermott Limited ("Granelli") and Loseley Dairy Ice Cream Limited ("Loseley") which were acquired by the Company in November 2005.

Thomas Gwynfor Jones ("Gwyn") has been appointed Group Commercial Director, effective 1 February 2005. As Group Commercial Director, Gwyn will be responsible for all aspects of sales and commercial relationships across the three subsidiary operating companies – Hill Station Ice Cream Limited, Granelli McDermott Limited and Loseley Dairy Ice Cream Limited. His remit will include both private-label customer relationships and sales of the Group's branded products.

Since 1993, Gwyn, 58, has served as Managing Director of Granelli McDermott Ltd, where he acted as principal commercial officer in addition to his other duties. From 1989 to 1992, he was Managing Director of the JM Nuttall group and a board member of Dairy Crest Foods Ltd. From 1985 to 1987, he was Managing Director and General Manager of Morisis Products Ltd, a subsidiary of Dairy Crest Foods Ltd. Iain Macpherson, Commercial Director of Hill Station, leaves the Company to pursue other opportunities following the creation of the position of Group Commercial Director.

Hill Station is today also providing an update on the integration of the two companies it acquired on 18 November 2005 – Granelli McDermott Limited ("Granelli") and Loseley Dairy Ice Cream Limited ("Loseley").

Significant milestones have been achieved in Hill Station's plan to integrate the operations of its three operating subsidiaries in order to deliver major operating efficiencies and overhead reductions, as well as economies of scale in manufacturing and purchasing. The following milestones have been achieved in just two months since the acquisitions:

Closure of Granelli's Tattenhall Manufacturing Facility

¡ Granelli's manufacturing facility located at Tattenhall, Cheshire, was closed prior to the end of 2005, as planned;

¡ Responsibility for the products previously manufactured at the Tattenhall factory have been transferred to the Cwmbran, South Wales factory of Loseley, an 80,000 sq ft state-of-the-art production facility, previously significantly under-utilised;

Creation of a Super-Premium Manufacturing Capability at Cwmbran

¡ The manufacturing equipment and machinery previously used at the Tattenhall factory have been transferred to the production facility at Cwmbran, where they will comprise a second mix plant and a seventh production line, both devoted to the manufacture of super-premium ice cream products;

¡ The creation of a super-premium manufacturing capability at Cwmbran will enable the Company to close its existing Hill Station operations in Calne, Wiltshire;

Commencement of Consultation Period at Granelli's Cheadle Site

¡ The Company has commenced consultations with employees at its Cheadle, Cheshire, freehold manufacturing site. The consultations are expected to be completed by 13 February and an announcement on the future of that site will be made at that time.

Commenting on the Board changes, Charles Hall, Hill Station plc Group Managing Director, said:

"We are delighted that Gwyn will be staying on with the enlarged Hill Station as Group Commercial Director. He brings with him extensive experience across the entire UK ice cream sector, where he has been a key player for 12 years as Managing Director of Granelli McDermott. Gwyn and his commercial team will be responsible for driving growth in both private-label and branded sales as we move forward. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Iain Macpherson for the contribution he has made during his role as Commercial Director of Hill Station and to wish him every success for the future."

Gina Hall, Hill Station plc Group Marketing and Product Director, added:

"Since completion of the acquisitions on 18 November, our Commercial, Product and Operations Task Forces have been working closely together to ensure a smooth transfer process. Production has already commenced in Cwmbran for some of the products previously manufactured at Tattenhall, and we're on schedule for the rest. The fact that we have been able to accomplish this only a few weeks after the acquisitions is a testament to the enthusiasm, skill and professionalism of all members of the task force teams."

It looks like the two companies merged because they were each going out of business. Now they can go outof business together as a bigger company.

How low can the share price go?

I'll be interested to see the stabilising effects gained from the recent reverse takeover - I have always viewed Losely as a good brand, albeit much undermarketed.

Perhaps a good time for brave investors to dabble a little, although I suspect the return period may be rather long.

Sprig,

As voiced by others, the share price decline is inevitable after the recent acquisitions - this share is probably one for the very deep, lowest of all bottom drawers. Nice things might happen in the distant future.

To be honest, I've been watching HLL since it floated. There are several core problems which the management have failed to realise:
1) They want to be known as a luxury brand, but no one knows who they are and will never pay such high prices for them. Word of mouth marketing is too slow given the capital burn rate of this company.
2) They need to be tougher on running/admin costs.
3) The ice cream packaging makes the ice cream look like a "fun" childrens brand (no way a luxury ice cream).
