17/2/2018 13:23 | Prior to referendum the US$ was c. GB£0.70. Currently it is £0.71, so the £ has pretty much recovered totally against the US$ because of the significant drop in the US$. Regarding the conversion of HGM EPS from the devalued US$ into Sterling terms for UK-based investors, Bonnard is right, it effectively reduces the EPS in Sterling terms and hence for the share price once one applies an appropriate PER. We need to see Sterling fall relative to Gold and the US$ in order to get the EPS up in GB£. Same applies to most Gold producers. Chip | chipperfrd
16/2/2018 17:17 | B- take 12months from referendum date with huge pound impact- over the next 12months GBP never recovered and point to point was ~18% lower to the USD, but HGM, again point to point ~50% up on share price. GBP I still yet to recover this the pre-referendum value. | stevedaytrader
16/2/2018 16:17 | B- weaker dollar drives gold price, u r only referring to one currency, I am referring to all currencies. | stevedaytrader
16/2/2018 15:00 | B / | srpactive
16/2/2018 14:55 | stevedt The weaker dollar doen't help. It means when the profits get converted back to GBP for the accounts, then the profit in GBP is lower. What we need is the price of gold to go up AND the value of the dollar to go up, but this is not happening. If the price of gold in dollars goes up but the value of the dollar goes down then this doesn't do much for a company on the London stock exchange. It probably explains why the share price of HGM is not increasing. | bonnard
16/2/2018 14:07 | It's hard to find any reason why gold won't be higher this time next year- same with the USD being lower- I expect a few wave(s) up and down on the way to this- I didn't predict the last gold drop/hike- but then who did?! Good to see the markets in good shape also now. | stevedaytrader
16/2/2018 13:47 | Goldman Sachs have a price target of $1450 next year, and these people are the best imho, dyor. | srpactive
16/2/2018 13:34 | Also, SR, I agree on this year, already Q1 is looking great with this gold price, if Kitco are right on gold and (JP Morgan are right on weaker dollar) all year, will be a bumper year for sure. Here's hoping and this HGM price is still so cheap | stevedaytrader
16/2/2018 13:25 | Thanks SR- good news for me is the date too, eg in NEXT tax year :-). | stevedaytrader

16/2/2018 13:11 | SR- no disagreement from me ALL, I have 2 dates 24Apr FYResults and Ex-Divi 26Apr. How much per share, I'm being too lazy to check (of course, this will excl. any "special divi" if there is one as mentioned in company news). | stevedaytrader
16/2/2018 10:41 | D Yes agree, I am happy to wait and increase for the dividend, dyor. | srpactive

15/2/2018 14:31 | Gold prices have edged up on the back of a tumbling US dollar which, according to analysts, has set the stage for a new bull market for the precious metal. Experts project higher gold prices in the near-term. The yellow metal was trading at $1,354.65 an ounce as of 10:20 GMT on Thursday, after enjoying its best trading day on Wednesday since June 24, 2016. According to Fawad Razaqzada, technical analyst at City Index, gold prices have managed to hold on to crucial retracement levels despite the recent pullback. “That tells me that the buyers are in control of this market and prices are going higher,” he said. Looking at the long-term picture, Razaqzada said gold has risen higher for three consecutive years with prices last month hitting a 1.5-year high. | loganair
15/2/2018 12:48 | c Yes quite agree, dyor. | srpactive
15/2/2018 12:26 | Copper flying over at caml. Hgm seems stubbornly stuck in a low price range at the moment. Hopefully a strong positive break soon. | coxsmn
15/2/2018 10:19 | 11% Bought a few more at 148pish, dyor. Edit 12.06 I thought with the dow futures up strongly at over 200pts we would have kept positive, nevermind, fingers crossed for later then and lets hope our US friends support hgm again as they have the past couple of sessions, dyor. | srpactive
15/2/2018 09:36 | edjge2, Indeed, 140p now the base. | 11_percent
15/2/2018 09:31 | sdt e2 has summed it up nicely, one major point to note we made a golden cross ( 50 crossing 200dma to the upside ) the other week, massive buy indicator, dyor. Yes I hope to see 153p also. | srpactive
15/2/2018 08:44 | Steve basing at 140p for ages. HGM tends to miove fast when it does. See the recent chart titty so may well do again with gold rampaging and dollar index headed 80 or so. 180p arriving soon? | edjge2 |
