Posted at 20/1/2025 22:11 by mike the mechanic I don't see the share price movement as an indicator of who will win the vote.SABA was an aggressive buyer until while the shares could be used to vote. They're no longer buying (and potentially a seller) so the price is declining. I really want HRI to remain unchanged and will review investment options after the vote results. GLA |

Format: Online WebinarSaba Capital, a US hedge fund, has recently called for general meetings at seven investment trusts: Baillie Gifford US Growth Trust (USA), Edinburgh Worldwide (EWI), Keystone Positive Change (KPC), Henderson Opportunities Trust (HOT), European Smaller Companies Trust (ESCT), CQS Natural Resources Growth & Income (CYN), Herald Investment Trust (HRI). Unless other shareholders vote at these general meetings, Saba’s resolutions will pass, enabling Saba to take control of these trusts. In this webinar, an expert panel, including Ros Altmann, James Carthew, and Richard Stone, will explore the implications of these developments, focusing on the broader issues surrounding shareholder democracy. Additionally, there will be a concise presentation on how shareholders, particularly those holding shares via brokers or platforms, can ensure their voting rights are effectively exercised. Posted at 16/1/2025 07:47 by mike the mechanic amt, I believe it is 50% of votes cast.I'm still hoping that HRI can hold out but expect SAPA will go all out to win the vote as this is the first of many so losing would be particularly humiliating. I expect the price will drop whatever the outcome but really want it to remain independent. GLA |
Posted at 15/1/2025 15:12 by bitgold Got to admit, wish I had held on to sell at £25+. As great as HRI is, it's all getting a bit strange here. Does Saba have some insight on some part of the HRI portfolio that we've all missed? With the shares now at a premium, they are surely overpaying to increase their stake? |
Posted at 15/1/2025 07:52 by spangle93 Saba funds are still a buyer of HRI - holding increased |
Posted at 14/1/2025 08:46 by bitgold I sold out, but I am watching with interest as HRI is one of my favourite ITs and has given me great returns in the past.Saba's timing and the way they've gone about it isn't winning them any friends and has also lost them money, as they accumulated their holdings in too short a time and pushed the discounts right down. Already, some of the ITs are well below their buy costs (CYN and HOT for example) and discounts are widening again. |
Posted at 10/1/2025 07:42 by spangle93 Saba ups the ante with full cash exit offer for Herald investorsSaba Capital has offered Herald (HRI) shareholders a full cash exit at 99% of net asset value (NAV) in a bid to win votes in the upcoming showdown between the trust and the activist investor. Herald and Saba have engaged in tit-for-tat mud-slinging, with each accusing the other of providing misleading information to shareholders and acting in a self-serving manner. However, the New York firm headed by Boaz Weinstein has now upped the ante, providing a concrete offer to shareholders if they vote in Saba’s favour at a general meeting on 22 January.... continues |
Posted at 09/1/2025 10:13 by belgraviaboy I have reduced my holding with the possibility of buying back cheaper after the vote.HRI has traded at a discount for three years. |
Posted at 19/12/2024 07:35 by slicethepie A breakup of hri would be extremely bad news for small tech businesses in the uk, hri has been highly supportive of these companies when others have given up, these businesses take time and patience something that most institutions in the uk don't have. Hri network is also invaluable in providing experienced board members to help these businesses. Saba have shown themselves good at identifying value hopefully they will exit gracefully! |
Posted at 02/12/2024 17:05 by bitgold super micro up 30% so far today. No wonder HRI went up a lot towards the end of session. Be interesting to see the NAV tomorrow. |
