I’ve had these in an ISA FOR 6 years and although the tax-free dividends have been substantial, capital appreciation has been poor. So I was relieved when JGGI came along to put me out of my misery. As JGGI have been able to issue shares at par or premium, there was a good prospect of exiting HINT at asset value (otherwise a winding-up would have been preferable).

However, JGGI is heavily loaded towards big US tech, and that’s not for me. I sold therefore as a few pence below asset value.

Actually, although JGGI have a good long-term record, HINT has outperformed them on 1,3,6,and 12m comparison.

The similar trust that appeals to me is Invesco International Income (IGET), which I note was up quite a bit yesterday. This has done better than both the above, as big tech came off the boil.

Yes, different sites can give different figures! The figures I quoted on dividend cover were from Hargreaves Lansdown and the reserves numbers were from the AIC. MYI appears to have just over 5% invested in Britain (6th place behind Singapore), again from the AIC.

your comment troubles me as ShareScope (erstwhile in my case SharePad) financials for HINT in section Ratio/Profit Ratios/Dividend Cover show for years 2020-2024 inclusive that (i) only one year has less than 1x div. cover and (ii) 2020 is given as "-".
It doesn't matter which broker/service provider/aggregator/whatever is involved: I'm always fearful that the database numbers on which I rely might in fact be wrong. Wondering if that is why Mr Naked Trader said something about looking at the company's own accs, at least for assessing scope of leverage?
I too invested in HINT recently and in my case via a new online broker where I fat finger fumbled the amount ending up with spending 10k more than I'd intended. Till today I had been thinking of rebalancing by selling it down...
MYI has served reasonably well since investing in it a year ago. But if I read correctly, USA and UK are its largest geographic exposures.

It doesn't surprise me as the trust has lost its way over the last few years. Despite the vast constellation of stocks available to it, it's only covered its dividend once in the last five years. Dividend and capital growth have both stalled and reserves are dwindling. I'll move to MYI as I don't want to be overexposed to an over-valued US market. It's Henderson's second failure in this area.

I'm in it but it's a hold for the dividend. Solid share solid div.
