@p0pper, that is a shocker. I often use that info... and it was there the other day! Any explanation (or excuse!) from HL?

HL are in a bad way, even taken off of their site the dividend history of FTSE100 stocks, getting less and less info from them now.

@GrowthPotential it's a bit more than that, the Fed look likely to actually raise rates in March. So why have HL shares had such a good day when US markets are down? At one point they were up 40p and threatening £14.

@Porsche1945, yes I picked a really bad day to sing HL's praises with a big fall the next day... but I'm still confident we are off the lows and not returning to sub £13. I agree with you about UK issues, tax rises in April, Brexit, inflation, energy prices etc.

Market being torn a new one? We've seen it all before, fed tapering tantrum of 2013

So why spend so much time posting on these shrs you hate? Actions of a mental case. Anyway,Nvidia is starting to crash, you’d be mad. Like your Afrm fallen 50% since you mentioning it 2mths ago. The reality more likely is that you don’t invest at all and are a sad keyboard warrior who’s anti establishment, probably unvaccinated conspiracy theory mentalist
If the best you can do is tip Tesla, hmm you need your head testing mate

Perhaps some of us are happy with stirling denominated products, saves on the exchange rates that brokers charge.

Strong finish today - ended on the day's highs.

With US markets staying at record levels and the FTSE now at it's post-pandemic high this will feed through to the bottom line at HL (note to Porsche1945 - a big percentage of HL clients hold funds which invest in the US markets). Also the small interest rate rise in Dec, with hopefully more to come in Feb, will begin to feed through too.

Add to that the takeover theory and rising dividend and it looks like a decent risk/reward buy under £14-50.

HL share price info is all over the place again this weekend and I've an apology banner on my home page. I don't understand why they haven't maintained their website at cutting edge levels. Feed after feed has been discontinued (but they are doing something about it, not), and you really can't research much from it. Looks like corporate madness. I have bought the shares, again as this can't continue. We've 6 accounts here from up to 20 years ago. But...I'm not going to add 4 more Grandchildren accounts having run the effect of 0.45% Annual Fees over 50 years! I'm thinking 4x Vanguard all world trackers at least until they are all old enough to decide what they want to do with it. I hope HL are listening.

Out of interest is HL the only broker that reinvests dividends once a month?Hate it and thinking of changing because of it to some company who reinvents as soon as dividends received.

Yes, so HL still has a much lower PE than AJB.

If you include recent Special Dividends then AJB's yield improves to 3.07% and HL to 3.67%.

@zhaers - is a fair point, iii is ropey on one particular browser.

But HL was def a 45 min outage, with the added issue of the phones going unanswered. Can only imagine what it'll be like next time we get a "fast market".

Wouldn't be so bad if they were dirt cheap.

For all the complaints about unable to trade, have you tried a different browsers, or even different internet connection?

I had to ring them a few months ago and the problem was with our sky broadband, worked fine over my mobile connection.

BTW this isn't defending them, they do need to invest and greatly improve all around

I abandoned Barclays a couple of years back it was so appalling. HL has generally been excellent, but no idea what happened this AM.

I don't use any others.

Don't see many ETF moves like that!

"The lira , which was down more than 10% at 18.4 to the dollar earlier, strengthened sharply and ended up 25% on the day at 13.15 in reaction to Erdogan's announcement, in its largest daily trading range on record. It remains down 45% so far this year."

HL seems fine again now - but it's still the flakiest platform ex Barclays.

Painful experience - I had been trying to sell a Turkey fund (ITKY) all morning since the mad Erdogan announced his madcap interest-rate/currency compensation scheme. the delay actually benefitted me, but it ought not be like that.

Just imagine what it'd be like if the market was busy. Yes, nearly Christmas so staff levels will be down, but HL have been trying to fluke it for far too long.

If you're not employing the back-up, at least spend money on robust systems.

HL - the new Barclays Stockbrokers.
