Share Buyback

Following the announcement on 14 August 2006 that Charlton Athletic plc (the "
Company") was seeking a cancellation of its listing on AIM and in accordance
with the authority granted at the Annual General Meeting on 18 January 2006, the
Company announces today that it made on market purchases on 17 August 2006 of
120,000 ordinary shares of 50p each in the issued share capital of the Company
at a price of 38p per Ordinary Share. These shares have been purchased for
cancellation.

The issued share capital of the Company will subsequently be 64,057,626.
