29/12/2024 11:52 | Wonder if this $20.60 figure has been agreed between icg and apikur to save any company calculating the drilling costs on each field. ( The amount is pretty much middle between $16 and $ 26 wanted by the krg oil companies ) Or maybe even been agreed as a temporary amount to get pumping again. Gla “So it's $16 per barrel as previously reported but we now have a $20.60 higher figure which will be put into law and hopefully is paid out when the independent reviews are carried out on the various locations confirming the costs. Looks like one side has caved in.” | beernut1

29/12/2024 10:34 | I know Banging on bangs on about sold before Xmas and all that BS. His next prediction will be sold before Easter. We all know that's coming next from our resident clown. Back to reality now. Gkp isn't sold and won't be if the HCL ever gets passed. Which in my humble opinion will never happen now. Especially what's gone on recently with the oil ministers. They must be so angry that their court case got blown away. So they will only try to suppress anything moving forward more than ever now. So it's a wait till September and collect a few Dividends on the way. Personally I think it's the right to go. And has always been. Maybe gkp will be sold in a few years but that can only happen with gkp at 100kbopd and prove up reserves to 2b+ barrels. Then you will see a nice number on the sale price. Plus they will need to extend their production time on the field for another 20+ years to get full value. Enjoy the journey everyone and stay healthy to enjoy your riches hopefully 🙏 | diamondandpearls

28/12/2024 16:39 | I wonder if USA and Russia have made a deal, Russia/Ukraine peace deal with Russia keeping the land they have taken, and USA takes Syria without Russia getting involved. Just saying. | petebreeze37

28/12/2024 15:31 | That will be the total figure and therefore it would be APIKUR who would be making the claim on behalf of all its members. I do wonder whether it has been taken out of context and was simply introduced into the negotiations as a potential threat. Not a full on law suit at this stage. | shortsqueezer
28/12/2024 15:27 | Thanks Kev. Will Parliament be more inclined to approve the amendment now that they know that the "Supreme Court" ruling was wrong and that the contracts are in fact legal enforceable and binding. Not long to wait to find out. "Following negotiations, Erbil and Baghdad have reached an agreement to amend the budget, raising the costs to approximately from 6$ per barrel to $20.6. In the initial phase, oil companies will receive around $16 per barrel." A preliminary agreement has been reached between oil companies and the Kurdistan Regional Government on this issue, and what the regional government presents will be included in the 2025 national budget draft. The MP Muthanna Amin announced that the Iraqi parliament's legislative recess will end on January 10, 2025, and one of the primary tasks to be completed during the upcoming session will be the approval of the 2025 budget law." | habshan

28/12/2024 14:10 | There is no way the Board of Directors should raise court proceedings against Iraq without also informing its shareholders via a RNS. Hence I suspect it cannot be correct unless the companies have simply intimated a claim by way of a lawyers letter, before proceedings occur. If there is no RNS on monday, my view is that the press have it wrong. £24bn sounds too high-I doubt the companies would be suing for loss of turnover, but rather would be suing for loss of profit. As a shareholder I do hope the claim is true, but have legitimate doubts. | wester1

28/12/2024 12:04 | Last Monday, a few days after the Karkh Appeals Court ruling saying that the contracts are legal enforceable and binding, Shafaq News quoted the economist Nabil Al-Marsoumi as saying that the IOCs had made a $24 billion compensation claim. Since then I've seen articles about it in half a dozen small Iraqi media outlets but only as a cut and paste of the original quote, there's been no independant corroboration and nothing from any of the involved parties to either confirm or deny it. The following is from the al-Arab newspaper which mentions "Iraqi sources familiar with the oil issue", but it's weird that it still hasn't been picked up by the mainstream media. $24 billion is a colossal amount of money in anybody's language and if somebody sued the US or UK government for $24 billion it would be all over the front pages. And not a peep from the ICG the MoO the KRG or APIKUR. NOBODY will be unaware of the Shafaq News report, it's just been left hanging there as though everybody is afraid to mention it. Al-Arab 28/12/24 on Draw Media:- "🔹Iraqi sources familiar with the oil issue say that at least (9) international oil companies have begun efforts to obtain large compensation, due to the damage caused by the suspension of oil. 🔹It is expected that before the Iraqi authorities to resolve the political, legal and technical obstacles to the resumption of oil exports, the companies will take their complaints to the international courts. The bill has affected the mood of the streets and will motivate them to protest against their poor living conditions, which has been reflected in the strike movement of employees in several sectors that has emerged for some time." | habshan |
