On relations with Baghdad, the prime minister stressed that recent alterations and amendments made to Iraq's federal budget bill are "unconstitutional", adding that they also violate KRG agreements with the federal government of Iraq and do not serve the interests of the people of Kurdistan.

He called for the agreement his cabinet had previously reached with Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani to be implemented, and emphasized that Erbil will not back down on protecting the constitutional rights of the people of Kurdistan.

"We are prepared for dialogue in order to reach an agreement that serves the interests of all parties. However, we will in no way make concessions on our peoples' rights, which are enshrined in the constitution," the prime minister detailed.

He also said that discussions on this issue are ongoing, and hoped to reach an agreement with Baghdad on details of the federal budget bill as quickly as possible in order for Erbil and Baghdad to deliver on their respective cabinet's development agendas.

Analysis: Today's landmark verdict establishes a new precedent, endowing the Federal Court with enhanced authority over Kurdistan's domestic matters. The Kurdistan Region no longer has free rein over decisions concerning its internal affairs, which some previously viewed as dubious.

This ruling also invalidates the KDP's recent reactivation of the Kurdistan election commission in the Kurdistan parliament. As a result, it is probable that the Iraqi election commission will assume responsibility for overseeing Kurdistan's elections.

Important: The Iraqi Federal Court has just ruled that the extension of the Kurdistan Parliament's term is unconstitutional.

The court has also ruled that all decisions made during the parliament's extended term are deemed null and void.

During the Iraqi governing coalition meeting, the KDP called for several changes to the proposed Iraqi budget bill currently under discussion in the Parliament's Finance Committee.

- In respect to Article (14), paragraph (9), concerning the budget allocation for protesting provinces, the KDP delegation objected to the direct funding, sparking strong opposition from the PUK and the Shiite parties supported the PUK demand.

- On the topic of oil money expenditure authority, as defined in Article (14), paragraph (1), the KDP was adamant in refusing to allow the Iraqi Finance Minister, supervised by the supervisory Bureau, to grant spending authority to the KRG Prime Minister.

- In relation to Article (14), paragraph (10) about oil extraction from Kirkuk and Nineveh provinces, the KDP urged for the removal of the clause prohibiting oil extraction from these areas, currently under KRG control, particularly the Khormala and Kormor fields.

- As for other KDP comments, Shiite parties promised to discuss the matter with their MPs. While several changes are expected, the PUK insisted on retaining the provisions regarding budget allocation for protesting provinces and the phased repayment of KRG public servant salaries in the draft.

well weirdly enough the 2021 budget that didn't get passed states the kurds would only need to provide 200-250kbpd.
