18/10/2021 21:28 | For 18 months now read 15 months to sort out their extremely expensive problem of flaring gas. However as a few of us have been saying for a long the major problems including gas flaring are likely to be beyond their capabilities. Even the always wrong highlander7 joined our point of view very recently obviously showing how desperate he is to get something correct. No announcements on S13/S14 still. But the OP is continuing to assist the share price which is just as well as the share price would be 1.25p or less imho. No hostile/friendly takeaway as predicted as imminent by the desperate Stockport idiot on an hourly basis for the past seven years. Btw, don't run away with any thoughts that the huge hike in the OP will mean someone will pay more for the very heavy oil. When top quality oil can only attract less than $2 pb "out there" very heavy will receive a huge discount. Happy to help. | ![]() bigdog5
18/10/2021 17:35 | highlander - "In the O&G Industry H2S detectors are usually set at...." Sustainability Report, emissions:- "eliminate gas flaring from all our operations save where necessary for safety considerations. While GKP currently meets Kurdistan standards for air quality" "During 2020 we were pleased to report that the air quality tested was well within the Kurdish regulatory limits." A lot of effort has gone into this and it doesn't sound cheap. Air quality monitoring. Air quality is continuously measured as part of the Company’s air quality monitoring (“AQM”) programme. During 2020 we were pleased to report that the air quality tested was well within the Kurdish regulatory limits. The Company is committed to improving its processes and quality of research and thus has expanded its AQM plan with the installation of new monitoring stations and equipment. In 2020, new air quality monitoring devices (Scentinal SL-50) have been installed at PF-1, PF-2, Kani Falla and Magara Village (close to Shaikan), and continually monitor CO, CO2, SO2, NO2, CH4, H2S, O3, PID, NMHC, PM10 and PM2.5 – providing GKP with a more in-depth and thorough analysis. The Sensor Information Management System (“SIMS2” platform which has been installed for analysing continuous monitoring data; replacing the previous system. The new SIMS2 are more reliable and capable of handling a large amount of data. This new platform provides raw and processed data in the form of reports and charts, as well as averaging data over different time periods from 15 minutes to up to one year, allowing us to closely monitor different stages of a cycle. These time intervals are set to meet the MNR’s air quality standard for each sensor. We continue to deploy passive diffusion tubes at ten locations near the Shaikan Field and neighbouring villages to ensure the levels of H2S, O3, VOC, SO2 and NO2 remain below Kurdish stipulations. These tubes are deployed and recovered monthly for analysis. In addition to mobile field monitoring, the Company uses a handheld Photo-ionisation Detector (“PID”), which can detect more than 400 gaseous pollutants, providing a helpful portable method for tracking air quality. | ![]() habshan

18/10/2021 16:46 | All production Company's initially flare to atmosphere( yes it breaks API and ISO Guidelines) They are usually given a time limited dispensation to do so and it is never an issue unless the H2S % is very high . (As in Kashagan where it is ~30% and they were not given a dispensation) . GKP are no exception and have given a plan for dealing with the gas in the FDP. In the O&G Industry H2S detectors are usually set at 10 - 20ppm and we assume 100-200 ppm as the fatality level or at least the level where you are no longer able to make rational decisions after breathing in same. You are unlikely to reach those concentrations in open air unless the H2S is exceptionally high in which case driller and crew carry 15 min BA sets at all times and are drilled regularly. H2S is a well known and frequent drilling hazard and precautions and procedures for dealing with it are well established. Troll scaremongering in full flow by the usual suspects with no operational experience of same. LOL | ![]() highlander7
18/10/2021 16:18 | The thorny issue of gas flaring has been ignored since Day #1 - it has suited BOTH SIDES to turn a blind eye to this issue for many years. We are now 14 years on from the date when the PSC was signed (Nov 6th, 2007), and the world has moved on - locals are now no longer willing to put up with the stench and the effects on their crops and livestock, and there are some very elegant villas now built within spitting distance of some of the wells / flare stacks / PFs. ...and the KRG now want to use the gas for E-generating purposes. If the PSC remains valid, I would say the oil companies have strong grounds to argue their case for sharing of blame - and resulting costs. PSC Clause 14.12 Flaring Flaring of Natural Gas in the course or activities provided for under this Contract is prohibited, except (i) short-term flaring up to twelve (12) Months necessary for testing or other operational reasons in accordance with prudent international petroleum industry practice (which shall include the flaring of Associated Natural Gas to the extent the CONTRACTOR considers that re-injecting Associated Natural Gas is not justified technically and economically and provided the GOVERNMENT decides not to take such Associated Natural Gas), (ii) with the prior authorisation of the GOVERNMENT, such authorisation not to be unreasonably withheld or delayed. The CONTRACTOR shall submit such request to the GOVERNMENT, which shall include an evaluation of reasonable alternatives to flaring that have been considered along with information on the amount and quality of Natural Gas involved and the duration pf the requested flaring. | ![]() broadford bay

18/10/2021 15:59 | Habshan - 25 Aug 2021 - 18:26:33 - 638943 A reality check. Even Ministers of Natural Resources can't just stick their finger in their ear and arbitrarily decide that as of this minute flaring is illegal, produce a figure of 18 months, and assume that it will be done without cost to the KRG. When the IOCs signed their contracts those contracts specified certain emission levels, "GKP - whilst we currently meet required standards in Kurdistan for air quality", if the MNR now want to move the goalposts that will mean a change in the contract terms and that means they'll have to pay, and they already owe the IOCs $4.3 billion. Rudaw a few hours ago - "Kurdistan Region faces challenges to end flaring." "The KRG is likely to face complications in obliging the companies to shift to a high cost process, even with the threat of taxes as punishment for those who do not comply. Eighteen months may not be enough of a heads up." "Generally what happens is if a company spends money in accommodating the flaring, they count it as a cost. In the end the KRG is to pay for it." "For some companies it might be doable, but others might need an extension. There are going to be issues, because you are not in Texas or Saudi Arabia where the industry is very mature." "Ceasing flaring requires a financial commitment and experts to do the job. According to Zulal, several factors such as the COVID-19 pandemic, supply chain problems, and a lack of specialist gas engineering companies in Kurdistan who can do these projects might eventually require the government to extend the deadline for some companies." "Some companies might even resist and say this is not part of our contract, we are not mobilized to do it, we will do it when we think we are in the right position, he added." "The Kurdistan Region owes a large amount of money, that could be a factor in efforts to end flaring. In late June, the Council of Ministers Secretary General Amanj Raheem told parliament that the KRG owes around $4.3 billion to oil companies." | ![]() habshan
18/10/2021 15:58 | Bigdog - "have stated categorically that flaring of gas is of no issue to the hosts and company and it would continue, lol." The ONLY person that has said that "flaring of gas is of no issue to the hosts and company and it would continue" is YOU Sarah, and that's because you're an idiot. You just can't pay attention can you, is it any wonder that you get everything round your neck. If the issue of gas flaring was of no issue to the company then why have they always said that the plan is to eliminate it. This is what the company and people on this board have been telling you for the last year and more about flaring and the plan to eliminate it, and it's still the case:- Website:- Emissions - Our clear aim is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to as low a level as possible, and to completely eradicate the flaring of gas from all our operations, save where necessary for safety considerations. Whilst we currently meet required standards in Kurdistan for air quality, we aim to continually improve the level of our emissions. Jon Ferrier last year - "not addressing the issue of flaring is simply not an option...". 2019 FYR 16 months ago - "In order to materially lower its emissions, the Company is committed to the elimination of routine flaring of associated gas " Stuart Catterall at the Capital Markets Day:- "Gas re-injection, the importance of that is 3 fold. a) - To eliminate the flaring." Jon Harris 18th June 21- "I am leading work to develop a comprehensive ESG strategy. A major focus of our strategy will be utilizing our gas for economic return and to reduce our carbon footprint by reducing gas flaring." Habshan 5/2/21 - "it will be addressed in the amended FDP as part of our "longer term" gas management plans." Habshan July 21 -" What you were told Sarah (several times), was that the plans for gas management will form an important and large part of the development plan for the next phase of the field development, and how could they not." 18/10/2021 14:53 | Iraqi Minister of oil stresses the need to increase oil investments Economy Iraqi Minister of oil 2021-10-14 13:21 A- A A+ Shafaq News/ The Iraqi Oil Minister, Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar Ismail, stressed the need to increase investments and support projects to develop the gas sector to meet the growing need for clean fuels in global markets. This came on the sidelines of his participation in the work of the World Energy Forum week in Russia, which opened yesterday, according to a statement issued by the Iraqi Oil Ministry today. The Minister of Oil pointed to the importance of regulating the global gas market, and speeding up the organization of mechanisms to achieve the required balance between supply and demand, by the producing countries. He also called for addressing the state of confusion in global markets as a result of the shortage of supplies by the producing countries. Oil prices could reach $100 a barrel, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday, adding that Moscow and its partners in the OPEC+ producer group are seeking to stabilize the global market. | ![]() beernut |
