13/4/2024 10:43 | Didn’t know this. Last paragraph interesting. Despite recent imports of over 500,000 barrels per day of crude oil from Iraq by the United States in March 2024, none of this oil originated from the Kurdistan Region. This discrepancy underscores the significance of finding a resolution to the impasse, especially considering the direct investment of $300 million by the U.S. Government for the development of KRG’s oil and gas sector. | beernut1

(Photo: Kurdistan 24) Kurdistan APIKUR US Visit Iraq-Turkey Pipeline Resumption of Oil Exports ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) — The imminent White House meeting between Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Shia al-Sudani and the US President Joe Biden on April 15 has sparked optimism among stakeholders regarding the future of oil production and exports through the Iraq-Turkey pipeline (ITP). APIKUR, an association representing numerous oil companies operating in the Kurdistan Region, sees the meeting as a pivotal moment to break the deadlock hindering pipeline exports from the Kurdistan Region. "APIKUR member companies are eager to immediately reach a mutually beneficial resolution between the Government of Iraq, Kurdistan Regional Government, and International Oil Companies to restore exports through the Iraq-Turkey pipeline," stated Myles B. Caggins III, spokesperson for APIKUR. The impasse over the ITP stems from a ruling by the International Chamber of Commerce over a year ago, resulting in the halt of oil exports. Despite Turkey expressing readiness to resume exports, the pipeline remains closed, causing significant losses in export revenues for Iraq and missed opportunities for economic growth. According to APIKUR, the lack of agreement has cost Iraq more than $14.5 billion in lost export revenues and has deprived the region of substantial employment and investment prospects. In hopes of finding a resolution, representatives from the Government of Iraq, Kurdistan Regional Government, and International Oil Companies, including APIKUR members, convened in Baghdad on January 7-9, 2024. While no formal proposals have been tabled since then, APIKUR remains open to further discussions. The upcoming meeting at the White House is seen as a chance to inject urgency into the negotiations and to galvanize all stakeholders towards a swift resolution. APIKUR emphasizes the importance of restoring exports through the ITP for the stability and prosperity of the Kurdistan Region's as well as Iraq’s oil and gas sector, which in turn will attract much-needed foreign investment. 13/4/2024 09:20 | "Given the strategic importance of the US as Iraq's primary ally, there is a national interest in consolidating ties." An interesting statement, "Given the strategic importance of the US as Iraq's primary ally", not sure what Iran and their stooges in Baghdad will make of it. Shafaq News - "Iraqi PM embarks on official visit to Washington, D.C., first since assuming office. Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani has left Baghdad heading to the United States, leading a delegation of government officials, members of parliament, and representatives from the private sector, as stated by his media office." | habshan
13/4/2024 08:41 | (US seeks to resolve Baghdad-Erbil disputes, expel Iran from Iraq - The New Region: Apr. 12, 2024) "The United States wields considerable sway over the Iraqi economy through its control of Iraqi oil sales. Funds are deposited into an account at the Federal Reserve Bank of the United States, with current holdings surpassing $100 billion. This influx follows improved oil prices in the global market, driven in part by Russia-Ukraine and Gaza-Israel conflicts... ...According to sources, discussions between Iraq and the United States will encompass oil-related issues between Erbil and Baghdad, with Baghdad being urged to hasten the resolution of disputes and fulfill the financial obligations owed to American oil companies operating in the region. In the Kurdistan Region, over 18 American companies are active across various sectors, including energy." | punter26

Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani’s visit to Washington in early March involved pressure on the White House to convince Sudani to resume oil exports through northern Iraq... ...The Biden-Sudani meeting thus comes amid mounting anticipation about the efficacy of US efforts to secure Baghdad’s consent to reopening the pipeline. From the perspective of the White House, the pipeline is an energy asset that can increase global oil supply and stabilize a Kurdistan region that it seeks to support as a reliable partner..." | punter26

13/4/2024 00:42 | Hey scotty snowflake, while you're searching for the info on your Export Pumping and Metering Station perhaps you can dig out your proof about the demise of OM63. They're both probably in a folder marked "BS to try and make me sound like I know stuff even though I still haven't got anything correct in over 10 years". So you morons reckon the Yanks are going to order Baghdad to open the pipe? LOL. But the pipe is owned by the Russians and wouldn't that annoy the Yanks as the Ruskies get a fee from it being used!! So, 350k (or thereabouts) quality oil coming up from the Kirkuk area leaves them 100k-150k short for the 500k a day max, but that won't be achieved for some time. Then there's some real quality oil that the Kurds can add, you know the API 38 stuff. So we wait and we wonder how much of the very heavy API 12-18 sludge will reach the mix:-) Have you noticed that there are a few posters on the "uva" bb that have had enough, view this as too risky now and are getting out!!! Some say its no more than a traders share now. Its been a traders share for 10 years or more!! I wonder what your "best brains on the planet" are thinking. Wish they had dumped at £3 years ago? | bigdog5

12/4/2024 21:36 | ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Next week’s meeting between United States President Joe Biden and Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani is a “key opportunity” for talks about resuming Kurdistan Region’s oil exports, an association of oil producers said on Friday. The April 15 meeting in the White House will be “an opportunity to reach agreement on oil production and exports through the Iraq-Türkiye pipeline, thus removing a key barrier to foreign direct investment in Iraq,” the Association of the Petroleum Industry of Kurdistan (APIKUR) said in a statement, adding that it is “optimistic that the high-level meeting between Al-Sudani and Biden will create urgency among all stakeholders to swiftly resolve issues and restore full production and exports from Iraq’s Kurdistan Region.” Oil exports from the Kurdistan Region through the Iraq-Turkey pipeline have been halted since March 2023 after a Paris-based arbitration court ruled in Baghdad’s favor that Ankara had breached a 1973 pipeline agreement by allowing Erbil to begin independent exports in 2014. Despite several talks between Kurdish, Iraqi, and Turkish officials, the exports have yet to resume and many international oil companies have suspended production. APIKUR also revealed that the US imported more than half a million barrels of oil from Iraq in March and “none of this oil was produced in Kurdistan region, despite the U.S. Government having directly invested $300 million for KRI’s oil and gas sector development.” | confused _gerbill

12/4/2024 19:26 | I note that there are 25 of you that are desperate and in complete denial of what is happening, lol. I warned you gullible suckers ages ago that Baghdad were "serious this time". BB has pointed out on several occasions what was likely to happen and that they wanted to reinstate a quality oil blend!! However you morons just banged on about Erbil will never concede. That the PSC's were legal and couldn't be altered. That Epicure will force Baghdad to offer better terms. That Baghdad were really concerned about the situation and that it was Epicure that held all the cards, lol. | bigdog5 |
