13/8/2021 09:48 | "You haven't explained why you only expect production to be 39 to 45k on the 2nd of September ???" I don't need to Tony. And you haven't explained what YOU think production will be and why, and what significance you attach to a snapshot production number on the evening of 1st September have you. And as I don't make investment decisions based on your opinions Tony I couldn't care less what you think the production number will be. And nor could Blackrock. | ![]() habshan

13/8/2021 09:20 | Big Oil Is Spending Big On Dividends And Debt, Not Clean Energy By Irina Slav - Aug 11, 2021, 10:30 AM CDT Big Oil divested assets worth $198 billion in the five years to 2020, BloombergNEF has calculated, but has not used the proceeds to invest in green energy. Instead, the report says, the proceeds from the divestments—fo In light of the recently released report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, this will likely infuriate some. On the other hand, in light of surging energy demand in many parts of the world, which has led to respective surges in gas prices, it shows long-term thinking on the part of Big Oil. | beernut

13/8/2021 09:04 | I agree with Bigdog and Tygarreg that commonsense tells you a takeover bid is never coming at $8 a barrel or £25 a share, particularly when the shares can be bought for under £2 at present. I hope the next ops update is good, but I note all our Chairman has said: "We have a great opportunity to create value for all our stakeholders, and to make a positive contribution within Kurdistan." Not exactly brimming with confidence on our production growth plans, is he? He maybe doesn't like companies with speculative risk rating, and maybe that's why he has never bought any shares himself, even when the oil price curve was in steep contango. | ![]() nobull

13/8/2021 08:51 | In Top M&A Deals, BlackRock, Vanguard Are Always on Both Sides ....Take some of the largest proposed mergers of the past year: The Big Three, at the time the deals were announced, on average owned about 20% of the acquiring companies and their targets. For example, when Raytheon Co. and United Technologies Corp. announced their merger, BlackRock held about 8.1% of the former and 6.3% of the latter, while Vanguard owned 8.1% and 6.7%, respectively, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. State Street’s stake was 4.4% and 10.5%, the data show. The asset managers argue those holdings don’t come close to tipping the outcomes of mergers. They say their influence is overstated because they don’t cast votes as a bloc, and also highlight the difference between a company’s largest shareholders — which could add up to a relatively small stake — and a controlling shareholder that owns a majority of shares. Some academics, however, have found that existing levels of common ownership increase the likelihood of companies merging and reduce the premiums that sellers receive. The authors conclude that cross-ownership gives the acquirers in deals an information advantage about their targets’ true value. And the parties involved have “superior two-sided information” compared with those who operate only on one side of the deal. Source: Bloomberg Jan 30, 2020 | ![]() punter26
