As for your other posts your comparisons are meaningless and irrlevent and as I and others keep saying nothing that was announced from the Kozel regime can be taken as fact. Everything was ramped up for salaries and bonuses. Nothing from that time has been proved, nothing.

Mutley, so lets compare....When the Shaikan 1 oilfield was completed on 23rd November 2009 it found multiple Oil Column pay zones in the Cretaceous; Jurassic & Triassic with an Oil Column in the Jurassic alone at circa 1000m (Higher than the worlds tallest building the Burj Khalifa). The well was also drilled to a total depth at 2950m; the final TD of 2950m was determined by the fact that GKP encountered a zone of very active oil and gas inflow immediately below a sealing layer at 2940m. This zone also exhibited high bottomhole pressures, well in excess of what was anticipated, and exceeded the design specifications of the well and the well head equipment resulting in the need to seal off that portion of the well bore. The thickness of this zone was untested, but the entrance to the Permian yields future upside potential for GKP. At this point Shaikan had estimated reserves of 1.9-7.4Bn barrels of OIP with a mean of 4.2Bn barrels of OIP according to DGA. In addition, there was an upside potential of upto a total of 13Bn barrels of OIP, with further prospective resources in the lower Triassic and the Permian below 2940m. The DGA Executive Summary stated that potential resources for those deeper formations were 1-5Bn Barrels of OIP and 6-14TCF of gas. A further 5 well appraisal took place on Shaikan & it was declared a commercial discovery. Post this a further 4 wells were drilled & Shaikan was found to have an area of 30km East to West & 10km North to South. Reserves have been revised to 1.4Bn barrels of STOIIP in the Cretaceous; 5.5Bn barrels of STOIIP in the Jurassic & 0.4Bn barrels of STOIIP in the Triassic (with the Shaikan 1 well only showing on the most recent GKP Corporate Presentation in September 2018) at just over 2000m, when it is already known the drill bit went 950m deeper). The Permian has been completely discounted. On the very 1st drill Shaikan 1 had a naming plate ceremony. Shaikan began pumping at a modest BOPD levels reaching 41345 BOPD on 11th May 2015, with over 50MMstb produced to date. Shortly, a 12 inch diameter feeder pipeline from Atrush, will turn into a 36 inch diameter feeder pipeline at Shaikan to connect both fields to the main Kurdistan export pipeline....

Mutley, when the giant Forties oilfield was hit in October 1970 it hit a 119m oil column & estimated reserves of 1.8Bn barrels of OIP. After a further 5 well appraisal between 1970 & 1971, it was found to have an area of 93km2 & reserves were revised to 4.6Bn barrels OIP. In November 1975, it had a naming plate ceremony & began pumping at a modest 10000 BOPD. In 1991, an investment of £1 billion funded the replacement of the original offshore 32-inch pipeline, which had become corroded. The new pipeline from Forties Charlie to Cruden Bay was 36 inch in diameter and increased capacity from 630,000 barrels per day to 900,000 barrels per day. Starting to get the picture....

"Mutley, if GKP has a problem with the Shaikan field, why would they need a 36” feeder pipeline connection that can easily average 800000 barrels of oil per day going forward".

They don't and never will. And its not a singular problem, there's many as I keep explaining. Also if you're going to lay a pipe it sometimes makes more sense to use a far larger one or maybe two in case of flow issues.

Also you should check out "Hagen-Poiseuille law" that may help you.

Happy to help as always:-).

They all vary in size of course.

FBM I think your observations are extremely perceptive. I hadn't noticed that before. One wonders if any of the boating fraternity here are going to drop their anchors in Nice this weekend. They should be aware of the notorious fowl bottom there.
