Well the market certainly hasn't gone wild over this announcement. Think I might wait for the shorters to do their worst and buy in at £10.

Relenza revenue is £888m pa, without swine flu, with production doubled, £1.6 billion on revenue. Perhaps our dividends will increase 11% this year.

Is it monty putting an order for 25,000 now on the buy side, now on the sell?

Divends paid quarterly, nice having the cheque drop on the doormat every 12 weeks and dividend growing at 8% per year. Like that broker said this should be over £13 in 6 - 12 months.

Early yet but L2 looks rather bearish. Which is great.

GlaxoSmithKline. "This transaction is one of a series of actions we are taking to maximize the value of our current assets and to enable us to resource and invest in new products and upcoming launches."

News flow should be quite positive from here on in ... invest in upcoming launches, thats the bit I like.

So this is the thread everyone's using now?

Wellbutrin sale looks sensible to me. $510m price, £340m gain, not previously accounted for as an asset at all. It would have been a poor price a year ago but with the generic competition is a practical response.

Relenza without swine flu was £888 per year, now with piggy flu £1.4 billion.

GSK aren't exactly blowing their own trumpet regarding the potential for Relenza, surely they must have plans to significantly step up production by now. From the last quarter results to 31 March '09 Relenza only contributed £222m to the £1,116m turnover for antivirals although understandably HIV drugs contributed the most:

Anti-virals (£m) 1,116
HIV 419
Agenerase, Lexiva 48
Combivir 112
Epivir 34
Epzicom/Kivexa 137
Trizivir 56
Ziagen 27
Valtrex 344
Relenza 222
Zeffix 53

Tamiflu seems to be mentioned in the media and stockpiled by governments in favour of Relenza despite the fact that there is more resistance to Tamiflu amongst flu viruses. This is presumably because Tamiflu is easier to administer but the balance will quite possibly change in favour of Relenza in future as some resistance has already been shown to Tamiflu by some flu virus strains.
