They didn't give her much chance to say anything. Obviously she can't make strict commitments on the dividend beyond what they've already stated. And of course GSK will be looking at options re: Pfizer sale as will all its peers.

But will GSK be buying $15bn of consumer healthcare from Pfizer? - I seriously doubt it. They might pick out one or two specific brands with synergies, but that's it.

Some of the analysts weren't interested in doing anything but trying to catch her out on the dividend. They played rough with the new CEO, now analyst reports flying around saying that GSK dividend is under threat.

Wow...so the reaction to our CEO comments yesterday when there were "some" positive developments going forward has knocked £7 billion off the market cap..... she must be feeling great! Certainly her words may have been better expressed over potential acquisitions, and now I guess some big players will be running their numbers over GSK's own consumer business...the tables may have turned. Maybe some over reaction but her comments have caused some concern how she intends to proceed..she really needed to express some caution, and be a bit more tight lipped. As they say we are where we are, so I guess the market will calm down and our CEO will highlight the current strength in its main sectors of operation, and perhaps play down the acquistion possibilities, as just possibilities. Finally, I think it is incumbant on her (especially now) to gain the confidence of the key Institutions which she will need to win over before embarking on any acquisitions.

Where are you getting this 7.7% figure from?

Last dividend for full year was 80p, which makes the yield about 5.8% if bought at the current price of 1,375p

NY Boy ...Coming up, ex div next Thursday annual yield 7.7% ffs!...

The forecast figure is high but nowhere near that high. At 1,391p on the probable 80p div GSK announced, the forecast yield for 2017 and 2018 is about 5.8%.

I know one thing if BT figures disappoint in anyway on 2nd Nov, they will get hammered. Going by GSK who increased revenue, lol

I think they will end the day 1410p. Total over reaction.

When I posted yesterday at £1510 a share, the market would not like the Q3,
did not foresee a share price under 1390!!.

We dipped briefly below £13 from memory, might have been early 2016.

A good deal of the price "gains" since were on the realisation GSK had a blockbuster
Hiv medicine with ViiV. Higher UKX and FX as well helping.
