Indeed.

A bright light and ghostly figure:-

"Alan, Alan! Why persecutest thou me?"

A bit above my pay grade to arrange, though.

TheApiarist, thumbs up! The implication of my post was that, given his track record,it's pointless asking/expecting a different outcome. Old dogs and all that. Only a road to Damascus, not Brighton, experience would solve the problem ;-).

Perhaps something along the following lines might bear fruit:-

Alan.

How you must be missing him.
Two weeks and only a single post addressed to another!
Don’t lose heart though. He may yet surprise you in four days time.
Meanwhile there are things you can do.
Brighton must have a card shop that can help you customise your message to him.
Perhaps the frontispiece could feature an old man seated alone with his iPad in a crowded café.
Inside the following message, written in haste, might just do the trick:-

O Zooman, how I love you
To you, my love I send
I hope that you will love me too
And be my Adven friend

Good luck.

You are absolutely right, Farmer. A different approach is clearly required.

Perhaps Alan just needs a gentle nudge to put him in a more positive frame of mind.

Leave it with me. I'll see what I can come up with between now and Scotland vs France.

Suddenly, his confidence is restored!

Amazing - the restorative power of a few well chosen words from a friend.

We shouldn't be too hard on him. It's been a very difficult couple of weeks for the poor chap.

In the absence of Zoo's tender guiding hand, he hasn't known what to think or say.

Your name is conspicuous by it's absence on that list, Alan.

A simple application of your own "logic" leads us to the conclusion that you therefore hold no shares in SHG, despite your oft repeated claims to the contrary.

"debt and thin air". Much like the UK and many others! The difference being that, unlike China, we don't have a large balance of payments surplus to cushion a recession.

Overpopulation used to be seen as a problem for China. Now, apparently, the reverse is true. With 25% unemployment, a shortage of those of working age wouldn't seem to be the problem! Welcome to a consumer economy, China. Boom, Bust! Ask Gordon Brown and numerous other Chancellors.

Reading the article one might be forgiven for believing he was describing the current situation facing the EU.

At a more parochial level, GFM enjoying record production, no problem selling their product with Zinc prices stabilised and that of Gold at near record levels. Smelter costs down, transport costs down and once Zone II comes on stream mining costs will fall.

We just have to hope that Xi doesn't create a distraction from his woes by invading Taiwan.

"The West hasn’t grasped the scale of the disaster
facing China"

"Economists and business analysts focusing on the prospects
for a rise in GDP or a fall in unemployment are focusing on
entirely the wrong issues. Our understanding of the Chinese
economy was flawed, failing to see how much was built on
debt and thin air."

Alan.

May I suggest that, if you have any issues relating to posts on the SHG board, any response should be restricted to that board.

zoo good morning better day on the shares for me yesterday after a bad Monday ,Perseus hasn’t moved for the last two days but zinc has been falling everyday for the past ten days ,the Dow continues to rise whilst our stock market continues to fall, we need GFM to buy back shares I’m not interested in a dividend , I think it will be sold or taken private sooner rather than later ,I think Redhill was very patient with the idiot phillis he’s supposed to be intelligent and keeps asking the easiest of questions ,it’s started wet today but may move north soon ,you have a good day, off to the cafe now ,
