16/3/2006 09:19 | goldthorpe: I'd be surprised if it were only around 376p. Wasn't that the NAV as at interims late-November? EDIT: I MEAN, AS AT SEPTEMBER 2005. Keeping an eye open between 10:30 to 11:00am this morning - if GPE are true to form, we can expect results to be published then. I'm bullish. Wonder when we will be over 400p? | nil pd
15/3/2006 16:40 | Thanks Goldthorpe - hopefully FTSE will continue to push higher and maybe they can bank some profit on the option | nat7
15/3/2006 14:56 | nat7: The initial level of the index at option purchase is 5142. The notional amount is 120m. The option cost was 14m. At the present time (14:55, 15/03/2006) the FTSE is 5976, so the gain is: [(5976-5142)/5142] x 120m - 14m = 5.46m. That's about 6.4p per share. Nilpd: I don't suppose NAV at end December 05 will be far from 376p. A lot of selling of GPE recently, but I haven't noticed any bad news. I actually mopped up a few shares earlier today using small amounts of spare cash in an ISA and a dealing account. | goldthorpe
15/3/2006 12:18 | Results tomorrow, I expect. Any views on the numbers, NAV? | nil pd
15/3/2006 10:59 | I wonder how much the FTSE option is now worth, bearing in mind the rise since purchased | nat7
14/3/2006 14:23 | Anyone know when the Finals are due out? | goldthorpe
08/3/2006 17:36 | I think it's just general market conditions, profit taking etc. The buys and implied buys seemed to match the sells at close. | goldthorpe
08/3/2006 15:12 | What's happening to the share price today? Results anticipated to be less than good or sales pre-end of tax year? Or other? | nil pd
27/2/2006 17:09 | abeetle2 asked about the U-POL sale recently. I found the following, suggesting it completed: | goldthorpe
09/2/2006 16:24 | Nice to see some price recovery today. Still not quite back to where it was. | purse
07/2/2006 10:10 | thedaidai, Thankyou very much for this response. I hadn't navigated properly the new graphite website. | abeetle2
06/2/2006 18:04 | abeetle, Huntress was refinanced in August 2005 resulting in a return of capital to GPE, meaning that the value of the remaining stake was lower. see | thedaidai
06/2/2006 16:24 | One curious thing is that in the announcement to the stock exchange on Jan 3 2006 Huntress Search was no longer listed as a top ten holding. Whatever happened to it? ANNOUNCEMENT TO STOCK EXCHANGE GRAPHITE ENTERPRISE TRUST PLC 3 January 2006 Graphite Enterprise Trust PLC ("Graphite Enterprise") announces that the ten largest investments at 30 September 2005, the most recent date at which the portfolio valuations have been reviewed by the Directors, were as set out below. All investments representing more than 5% of the gross assets of Graphite Enterprise are included. Company Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst Europe Fund Corpfin Capital II ICG Mezzanine Fund 2000 Graphite Capital Partners VI U-POL Wagamama PAI Europe VI Doughty Hanson & Co IV Barclays European Infrastructure Fund Preh | abeetle2
03/2/2006 16:53 | But but that would imply all these sellers know that. Surely that can't be right. | abeetle2
03/2/2006 14:23 | Or has one of the holdings not performed. Todays RNS covers holdings up to the end Sept, it leaves us with 4 months of unknown changes. | purse
03/2/2006 14:22 | --or is it, as in previous instances, in the absence of any NAV movement, a precursor of an upwardly revisionist announcement? | abeetle2
03/2/2006 09:51 | An awful lot of selling today! Has GPE run out of steam? | abeetle2
25/1/2006 16:42 | Anybody know what happened to the U-POL sale? | abeetle2
26/12/2005 18:07 | Huntress turnover in year to Dec 2004 was 33.6M, with operating profit of 2M. In GPE 2004 final accounts, its 44% of Huntress is valued at about 8p per current GPE share (6.4 x operating profits). In GPE 2005 interims, Huntress is valued at about 9.8p per GPE share. The original cost was about 2.5p per current GPE share. Annual t/o of Huntress now stated to be over 60M: up 80% in a year. Sounds like another Maplin Electronics to me. | goldthorpe
26/12/2005 17:44 | Thanks for that, thedaidai. That's over 8p per share on the NAV selling U-Pol. | goldthorpe
23/12/2005 21:30 | Graphite is selling its second largest single share company , U-Pol, to ABN Amro Capital in a deal valuing the company at £75m The investment was valued at £8 million in the June 05 interims and should now be worth £15m for the 20.2% stake The largest single share company, Huntress search is also growing rapidly These may be the reason for the recent uplift in the share price | thedaidai
19/12/2005 11:02 | Its nice to have a thread where almost everyone seems to be long term investors. Goldthorpe: thanks for shareholder info. I hold mine through a SIPP, so the documents never come through. With the FTSE call option, this is a good investment in a bull market. BT | 18bt
16/12/2005 21:53 | I think they are buys, I have an F&C ISA, with the divi re-invested, they have purchased at £3.6725. Which suggests the large trades are also buys. It's interesting depending on which Portfolio, or site you choose the closing price is as high as £3.6975 BID could be good for next week. | purse
16/12/2005 16:47 | abeetle2, I think they are buys; just interpreted as sells by the ADVFN software. | goldthorpe |
