Or that photonic switch....ah, the stuff of legends..... Ages ago I spoke to the guy who acted as consultant to GHH on the switch. He had encouraged them at the time of The Euphoria to be even more adventurous and go for a tuneable add-drop filter...... G. | garth

04/11/2002 23:46 | I phoned Mr Bayer a couple of weeks ago. He was as tight-lipped as ever, particularly as they are currently in a closed period. But I did manage to press him on his reading of the US economy. I put it to him that Bullish statements from AG had then been followed by a profits warning and then with another positive outlook. I suggested that this had been something of a surprise and pressed as to whether it in fact mirrored the 'double-dip' nature of the US recession. Mr Bayer agreed with this reading of the US economy and that yes, it did look to be in a double-dip. He hastened to add that of course that was a comment on the US economy and not on the fortunes of GHH. He considered that in the current climate many would see GHHs ability to maintain a profit as being an achievement in itself. He stressed that no company or sector accounted for more than 10% of GHH business. Exposure to telecoms is Following the AGM the plan is to put the 'explaining what Gooch does' presentation on the website. Results are due end of November. Can't quite believe that we've seen the bottom yet and have a feeling that we may yet see the second 'dip' take the steam out of any possible positive outlook. But that's just a hunch. Whichever way, I'm still looking to add a few at a time for the long haul - as profits elsewhere allow...... G. | garth
04/11/2002 09:33 | it's going to be really scary if we ever get some proper volume on these! | whywithpumpkins
18/10/2002 23:43 | I still have my 'watching' portfolios set up at etrade. I haven't yet found another provider for these with comparable ease of use and streaming bid, offer and volume..... Been in Gooch for over 4 years now. It seems unbelievable that they are now valued at just £12m, pe of 4 and a 4% divi yield!....... Still, I guess there's just no future in photonics, fibre-optics, silicon chips and lasers..... ;-) Regards, G. | garth
18/10/2002 10:55 | holding here too, its bobbed up another penny. remember you from etrade days garth, i sometimes look over there. | whywithpumpkins
17/10/2002 14:00 | Been floating here-abouts for days. Just keeps bobbing up and down. Worth noting that AG hasn't been a buyer of late......... I hold. G. | garth
17/10/2002 12:23 | and surprise surprise, i open my mouth and it ticks up a penny - but will it last? | whywithpumpkins

29/9/2002 03:40 | i can imagine a lot of people who bought at 5 & 6 pounds were very upset by archies comments, but do you honestly belive it would have been better for him to keep quiet and watch the share price climb to 10 pounds plus before the inevitable collapse !!! i bet there is a lot of people out there who wish some of the big tech companies, had done something to stop ther share prices rising to such ridiculous levels !!!!! | stefield
05/9/2002 08:10 | i dont know, but it doesnt look very good !!! :( | stefield
