19/1/2009 12:47 | goml - I thought that once you were over the 3% barrier you had to notify the company whenever your holding changed either up or down. However you may be right that it has to be a whole % point.Either way 461,000 shares is several percentage points so I still expect an RNS. | model635
19/1/2009 12:35 | model, i think 3% is the point at which a party first notifies the company about their holding. after that, there is an obligation when a party goes through each hole percentage point. this applies when buying or selling. | goml
19/1/2009 12:30 | Gentlemen, Mr Ratcliffe has no obligation to talk to me. I merely reckon that it would be helpful were he to do so. However, one point stands out which is that it has been put to me that there are legal restrictions upon Mr Ratcliffe speaking to me. This is abject nonsense. Simon Cawkwell | simon cawkwell
19/1/2009 11:34 | goml - 3% is the notification limit | model635
19/1/2009 11:21 | remember, invesco can add a significant chunk without breaking 5% and being obligated to notify the company. | goml
19/1/2009 10:54 | IMO the MM's are the buyers...waiting to palm them off to the company's brokers in due course. | longshanks
19/1/2009 10:53 | or he's a whimpy coward | longshanks
19/1/2009 10:48 | OK we have the seller now who is the buyer? | model635
19/1/2009 10:48 | on xmas eve firebird held 557,050 ordinary shares representing 3.95% firebird is a Russian fund and was always acting for one (or more) of our major shareholders whoever bought those will need to issue an rns | nod
19/1/2009 10:43 | If Ratcliffe will not talk to Simon C then I would guess Ratcliffe is not interested in buying any more shares? | nod
19/1/2009 10:38 | GNE Group plc (AIM:GNE) announces that it was notifed on 15 January 2009 that due to a disposal of ordinary shares on 15 January 2009 Firebird Global Master Fund, Ltd. no longer have an interest in the issued share capital of GNE. | kooba
19/1/2009 10:31 | Will we get an RNS today re Thursday's big trades, we know that GNE bought in 189,000 of the 650,000 but who got the 461,000? My guess is Cronk sold his stake. If that is confirmed then we can safely assume we have another interested party gathering in the wings. | model635
19/1/2009 08:29 | now there's an horrendous thought richgit. i wouldn't fund these existing directors to go and get my shopping from tesco. | goml
18/1/2009 22:49 | Topinvest. You never know, but the remants of GNE/some Directors could be our ist small spin off investment. | richgit
18/1/2009 22:10 | I would tend to agree with Simon C that whatever yet happens its a probable no brainer. Whichever way its sliced, our shares are worth a lot more than 165p whether that be a vote against all new plans and for us to see our cash per share of 280p returned to us ==============OR==== Mr R wins and if a further buy back finds a fair few more sellers at say 190p-remaining shareholders are gaining cash assets per share of a further 90p on every share bought by effectively US ie shareholders in GNE3. in that scenario those still holding will have shares backed by a higher level than the circa 280p. Then its up to the Market to eventually realise. | richgit
18/1/2009 19:29 | From what I can gather, the vote shortly, can still go against........ ..............Mr Rat......and all his plans with it, or I`m I reading the ........ ..........situation wrong............... | zoo123
18/1/2009 19:13 | Yes, diddly squat...how much did they sell the stations for?!!! | topvest
18/1/2009 18:58 | Actually a penny dividend............ | zoo123
18/1/2009 18:45 | Also, wait for the residual petrol interests to be sold to the directors, probably for a knock-down price. In fact, GNE end up paying to take them away if you deduct the likely enormous director pay-off's when they lose their jobs. What have shareholders been given...precisely diddly squat! | topvest
18/1/2009 15:35 | Something tells me Mr Ratcliffe is not going to get GNE without a fight.I'm certain his motive is to seize GNE's cash at a major discount to value and the rhetoric about investments, trusts,t | model635
18/1/2009 13:31 | Simon - thanks once again for your input. But what do you make of this idea to take GNE's cash, convert to an investment trust and then invest in Tech stocks. Read an interesting article this morning which suggests shorting the NASDAQ thru 2009 since "tech stocks will be hit from the downturn in the investment cycle. Companies will cut investment as borrowing terms get tougher." I'm a bear of little brain but even I can see the folly of this plan if indeed it is a plan (I'm taking the RNS at face value). | chrismez
18/1/2009 12:04 | Gentlemen, I have now twice tried to get hold of Mr Ratcliffe - with no success so far. This is a pity since, as some followers of this thread will confirm, I do not bite. If one were to know what Mr Ratcliffe's plans are one would be better placed to comment. Simply being asked - virtually - to take him at face value is insufficient and, on balance, unwise. That noted, GNE are still a screaming buy. Simon Cawkwell | simon cawkwell |
