exmoor - I use Firefox: settings - history - remove history - check cookies and click OK. (Remove individual cookies, go to settings - privacy - enter verus (or whatever).)

On other browsers, look for History, there will be a menu for removal of some/all features. Include cookies. Or search their help function.

There's no harm in occasionally clearing History, cookies, the cache, etc. You'll need to re-log in to stuff such as this site, though.

jonwig,

Ref your comment above, how do I remove specific cookies from my machine please?

These ads are a real nuisance. Any help gratefully received.

Jonwig - that is called 'targetting'. You have presumable been on the Verus website. That has placed cookie on your machine and assumed you are a potential customer and therefore you are being ad served. Not so high cost.

It seems that everywhere you look on the web there are pop-up or banner ads for Verus loans. Has anyone a rough idea of the cost of one of these? Verus has £3m to play with.

Raiseworks has now been taken over by GLIF. See earlier post.

Clear agenda, he deleted much of his earlier posts on here after a previous attempt to influence.

Interesting to see a poster choose a name that was a duff investment

No that doesn't make a lot of sense, it's more likely they had to issue treasury stock at below market to remain in compliance with their capital requirement loan covenants. It was the last of their treasury stock. They have to maintain their dividend or all of their investors will bail. They are running out of bullets.

Maybe the company could make use of the funds that the share sale produced but I suspect the timing may have been chosen to inject some shares into the market for a friendly acquisition while they were cheap.
GLIF is not the most liquid of shares and it could otherwise be difficult to build a sizeable holding in a short time without affecting the price adversely (from the buyer's viewpoint).

Holts, that was news to me as well!. They do have a dividend to pay very shortly. I guess they have to find some uncommitted free cash on the books to be able to pay it - just a guess though.

Had they previously committed to selling the shares held in treasury , any other idea why that might be ?

Meanwhile, Geoff Miller's sensible take on the same story:

Bit of caution is no bad thing, hew.

I hold these for the superb yield (9.95% at current offer), regular and sustainable and paid quarterly.

Capital appreciation would be a bonus, in what would appear to be a sector of good growth potential. Reassured also by some solid institutional names amongst the significant shareholders, and the sizeable stake held by the CEO.

bluemango, I've taken a small stake today as 50 seemed a nice round number and the GLI area (new one for me) seems to be filling a genuine role. I've been holding off as the complexity of all the numbers in reports meant I could not realistically appraise the company myself. But having studied the recent Interims as best I can, and noted their Govt. links and role - no guarantee, but supportive! - I was persuaded by Simon Thompsons' recent piece in IC. (Fair value 80p, he calculates.) A little capital appreciation would be nice but I have my eyes on the div. As I assume the price will drop following each XD, I imagine it will take a while to detect any recovery trend, but holding firm will mean something and I will be happy enough with that. Too pessimistic?
