I agree, it almost doesn't matter, what matters is that in all probability we can expect a rally back to a sensible price and any who topped up will be very pleased

1225p it is s then, not much further to fall then, should we be bothered, err no, still collecting attractive quarterly divis.

You probably could have said the same in October 2015, or December 2016 but in both instances the share price was significantly higher a few months later - and never went lower.

Chart looks horrid with all those red bars showing bears firmly in control,I hope not as I am long but fear they want to take it down to 1225 support area.

All you hand-wringers and doom-mongers would have done better worrying at 1700p not 1300p!! Talk about 'missed the boat'!!

Oh well, that recovery was very short-lived. Worried about how far this could fall now in light of recent developments...

Yes there are a truck load of exemptions, a lot of those apply to individuals.

I can only go on the GSK CFO's comments, which I think were mentioned here.

>>The US corporate tax rate is 35% from memory>>

Yes, that's the headline rate, but there are thousands of exemption clauses e.g. I think I read today (on Bloomberg) that the tech giants are paying less than 20%.

John Mauldin (US economist writing on investment matters) favours a cut to 15% but only if all exemptions are removed: he reckons this would increase the tax take.

Stronger GBP is a major headwind.

The US corporate tax rate is 35% from memory, the GOP proposal
is a strafing rate at 20%, so a significant cut.

Gsk went down when the pound was weaker and down when the pound got stronger against the US$ doh!

Reports McCain will vote in favour of US tax reform sending Wall St.
to new records. If passed it's supportive for big $ earners.

That was a sh*te day for the portfolio. Only three out of sixteen just going the right way... MKS, IMB and DOM.

Added a few GSK @ 1282p.

£ at a two month high against the $ and €

The large Director buys at over 15 quid only 7 weeks ago and the possibility of Unilever coming back with another offer plus over 6% Divi should stop it falling much further although its hard to catch a falling knife.

This drop today is purely related to the FTSE, most of the FTSE started dropping about 14:00 and GSK started sliding 30 mins later with the same tiny bounce not long after 15:00

@Stewart64 I did notice Astra Zeneca had slipped earlier this week, I sold out there a while back, prefer the current underdogs GSK and Shire.

Starting to make Astrazeneca ( still close to annual highs) a bit expensive..at the very least one hell of risk.
