Sustainable Capital haven't further sold down, at least not another 1% worth.Wondering why? Is there some strategic M&A happening at the company, and they have been looped in and therefore can't trade?(I hold in the Boon Fund) |
bought some more today
if PDL can bag I do not see why this cant |
Interestingly Petra share price rallied a bit on RNS saying one of their care and maint mines had agreed terms for sale; no details offered but someone prepared to take on the worst of their 4 mines. |
pdl not far from bagging from lows |
Would be very nice to see a very large stone leading up to Q3 results to shake things up, And then hopefully further clarification on the ridiculous share price which has no resemblance to its actual current value regardless of the current depressed diamond market. |
PDL and Lucara share prices moving up
seems to be life in diamond stocks store of value assets should do well |
No big stones for 9 days now. must be due another soon. |
This dumping of shares every day is tedious |
Replica classic cars are always massively discounted to the real thing-same goes for top end diamonds. |
A major point which most seem to miss in my opinion is 'organic' material will always be in demand, there is something intrinsic with humans that we will prioritise beauty in nature rather than a lab
Not an exact example but similar example is lab grown meat and fake meat, sounds good and you get an initial rush but people have rapidly fallen back to organic |
Thanks for trying. |
MTT,
I got a reply from IR but it was what I expected tbh. IR did not ask my question to the board. The answer was basically, see H2 report. That basically explains it away as, lab diamonds and socia-economic things effecting the diamond market which everyone already knows. |
Considering all these stones that have been recovered what's holding the share price back....??? Must the finance side of things..?? |
Don't forget, lab grown diamonds is currently not feasible over 10 carats. And who knows when that will be breached. So not all parts of the diamond industry will be consumed by lan grown diamonds. Certainly industrial diamonds, small diamonds < 1 carat... |
Yes, interesting.
Same applies to ME countries selling oil, they'll have to diversity away from fossil fuels.
Three of the four diamond mines in Lesotho are on C&M. It's a tough market and only the leanest and most successful companies will survive. I happen to think GEMD are in a stronger position than most.
I have no idea what the longevity of the diamond market is but people will continue to demand real diamonds while those that don't want to spend as much on a e.g. diamond ring will purchase lab grown diamonds. |
Worth a read. Https://www.lemonde.fr/en/economy/article/2024/09/19/in-botswana-diamonds-aren-t-forever_6726556_19.html |
Agree somewhat, Bobex.
Honestly not remotely bothered about price fluctuation short term here.
If the financial health is good and no skeletons in the closet (that's the if) then this should 'eventually' be reflected in the share price
Let's see where we stand in 6 months or so. |
This company was undervalued 2 years ago ( and before). In RNS regarding Share Buyback Programme, CEO Elphick said: " We are of the view that the value of GD is not reflected in its current share price..." That current share price was about 60p at that time. So today perhaps a more appreciate term ought to be used in this regard, maybe knocked out or something like that… This is a value trap, especially if you think of all those stones before the g o o d results, share price reaching over 15p or so for a couple of hours, millions of shares being traded ... and where are we now? But maybe one day something changes here. |
Thanks. Much appreciated. |
MTT,
Who's knows....so much speculation. I've speculated myself on here, all depends on what fits someone's bias.
Q3 probably around Nov 1st.
If I get a response from IR, not holding my breath then I'll post here.
I think it unfair that the board don't comment on the depressed value of the company esp. considering the company told me almost 6 months ago that they considered the company undervalued, I think it was priced a little lower then.
Anyway, will post here if I get a reasonable reply rather than a non-answer. |
Thanks DCR. I see what you mean re small fry for them = big stake in gemd.
Their investment criteria to build up a 16% stake. They must have had something cooking, perhaps it was just a speculative punt thinking at some point gemd will be swallowed up by a bigger fish? |
I deleted an earlier post, I was badly explaining something.
What I was trying to explain is that for a 2 billion fund manager like SC selling a few % of GEMD is probably normal risk management, and they may not have an agenda beyond that. |
MTT,
Sustainable Cap selling a few % of GEMD is nothing in relative terms in comparison to the amount of money that Sustainable fund manage. It's really not here or there to them. |
MTT,
Yes, they still hold 16% give or take but no further selling since last reported.
I've contacted IR and asked for some clarity.
We can all see that share price is ridiculous and the board need to explain to shareholders why the company is so seriously undervalued.
If I get a reply I will post it on here.
Thanks. |
Agree, totally bizarre why they built up this huge stake....they are sat on a huge loss |
