11/7/2022 11:22 | What absolute rubbish.Bangla is completely different to Sri Lanka Sri have had decades of unrest and military coups and fighting. Corruption is rife. Its had trouble ever since parting from British rule. Its nothing to do with power shortages. As for bangla, there's still corruption but much less fighting. They're not going to scare hasina and sack her house. Geeeez. | apfindley
10/7/2022 14:53 | 888, yes, thar was my thought when I saw what was happening in Sri Lanka when there were too many power cuts amidst high World food prices. That might help to focus the politician's minds on creating a cheap, long-term, reliable domestic energy supply in Bangladesh. | luckyswimmer
09/7/2022 23:18 | Hasina is I hope watching the President of Sri Lanka having his official residence invaded and the Prime Minister having his private house set on fire. The President will resign next week. Bangladesh is undoubtedly having similar economic problems to Sri Lanka. It may be too late for Hasina but taking action now to start addressing the problems by approving more own coal can only be helpful. | 888icb
08/7/2022 23:03 | APF "...moving forward today involves three expensive coal fired plants." ..Maybe not.."...Whilst the option remains to install power plants at the Phulbari coal mine site, there is also the potential to supply coal to the country's already commissioned and under construction coal-fired plants. We have amended our Proposal to Government accordingly and in this scenario, Greenhouse Gas emissions (CO (2) ) from large-scale shipping of that quantity of coal to Bangladesh would be eliminated (replaced by rail / barging over far less distance). This, coupled with Phulbari coal's higher energy enabling "more power for less coal", will directly reduce Bangladesh's Greenhouse Gas Emissions (CO (2) ) by over 30% compared to imported coal..." | officerdigby

08/7/2022 20:46 | Why submitting something you already know it will be rejected Some people don’t think with their head but with their 👣 bythesea1973 Posts: 145 Price: 3.45 Hold RE: Elephant in the RoomToday 18:15 Hasina might say no, but how does she stop us submitting it? Why haven’t we tried submitting the proposal?? | longjohnsilver1

08/7/2022 20:29 | ...factually correct - they even got the daily consumption right. Remember, 10,000 tonnes is 100 coal wagons per day..the Banglas are just fools, they could not manage 10 dropside Transits a day and don't forget someone stole 146,000 tonnes from Bara. It's a shambles, a sorry shambles. At present, the country's largest coal plant requires around 10,000 tonnes of coal each day for producing nearly 1GW of electricity. On the other hand, three units of Barapukuria coal power plant are producing half their capacity using coal produced in Barapukuria. These units cannot go into full production because the coal mine is not producing enough coal. | malcolmyoung |
