16/10/2020 09:37 | No it won't fulfill the requirement, unless nfc are going to sign to say they will provide 9.7billion dollars to build a mine and 3 power plants. If they can provide that, they will need a lot more than a 5% buy in to the project. You need to read back a lot of rns's to realise the delaying tactics of these mou's. And these ones aren't even with PowerChina who dragged gcm into the power plants in addition to the mine.So are you saying nfc or powerchina will be providing the finance? Your message is very confusing. | apfindley

16/10/2020 09:21 | Lot of people jumped in yesterday without researching, only to realise the news wasn't really that significant. There have been endless rehashed rns's for mou's for 2 years...but still what we're waiting for is the mining PROPOSAL to be submitted for the government to look at. The company keep saying its ready. But what they don't like revealing is that the government insist that the company PROVE they can secure 9.7 billion dollars of capex funding to build the project before they submit the proposal. Its only after all that the government can make a decision on whether to issue a permit to extract coal.As things stand, you cant even take a shovel load of it out the ground. | apfindley

16/10/2020 08:53 | Cancellation riskIn August 2020, signalling a potential pivot in Bangladesh away from coal power towards increased reliance on gas-based power from imported liquified natural gas, Bangladesh's minister of power, energy and mineral resources, Nasrul Hamid stated that the government is planning to review an array of planned coal plants with the exception of three which are in construction and nearing completion: the Rampal power station, the Matarbari power station and the Payra power station. According to Minister Hamid, "We are reviewing how we can move from coal-based power plants. Phulbari Coal Project is, therefore, likely to be reviewed by the government which may cause delays or cancellation. | apfindley

16/10/2020 08:42 | The wiping out of all of yesterday's gains is just a party trick by the MM. If either NFC or PowerChina take a stake then its game on. As the RNS said Covid-19 has given the government of Bangladesh a well deserved kick up the backside. Relying on the import of energy is fraught with dangers as restrictions on international travel remains. Nobody knows how long this virus will be around for. The pandemic would have also cost jobs as Bangladesh provides so many cheap clothing and items to global high street retailers. Having two large Chinese companies injecting fresh capital and jobs into an already broken economy is not something the Bangladeshi government can refuse this time round. Buy and Hold. | pwhite73
