31/1/2006 08:34 | LONDON (AFX) - FuturaGene PLC, which buys and commercialises intellectual property rights from research institutions in the field of agricultural bio-technology, said the Government of the Peoples Republic of China has granted a 10-year licence allowing its Chinese subsidiary to enter into partnerships with key institutions and laboratories in China. "These partnerships will expand our research and applied development capability, as well as our gene discovery engine," the company said. Its subsidiary, FuturaGene Investment Consulting (Beijing) Co Ltd, already has a partnership with the Chinese Agriculture University. "This long-term business licence allows FuturaGene to carry out the necessary business activity such as licensing and performing contract services for our partners, which are crucial to the company's long-term growth and future development plans," it added. The company also said it will be in a position to exploit new technologies for both the Chinese market and markets outside of China. newsdesk@afxnews.com | artful dodger

28/1/2006 14:02 | i was worried but i am not too bothered now -about the recent internal management problems --as its a hiccup thats all - the problems are now being firmly dealt with -and i am very relaxed about fgn - i will pass on your comments on about the web-site though | harry punter
28/1/2006 13:43 | hp:> Still have to get the contracts though. Coy is currently on my "due diligence" list and have a lot more to do. Lack of web site does not help. Any suggestions? | pugugly
28/1/2006 13:37 | well i just know and trust the guys behind this company -- they are not going much lower -- | harry punter
28/1/2006 13:29 | hp:> You of all people must know how many patients have terminal relapses in the recovery ward. !!! | pugugly
28/1/2006 13:25 | lol --far from terminal --not even in intensive care -- its in the recovery ward having got rid of the tumour -- | harry punter
28/1/2006 11:15 | i am certain its hardly a serious factor --it was probably the out going chief execs bimbo secretary that provided that service -- | harry punter
28/1/2006 11:04 | Perhaps futuragene defaulted on payment to the web designers who have suspended service until payment or the executive has hacked in and gained revenge on the company? Seriously I can't conceive of any reasonable grounds to pull an operational web page and reduce it toits current state. | mcsean2164
28/1/2006 10:54 | the guardian is correct -- futuragene is a screaming buy if you are taking the longer view - a concept stock like this is 2-5 years -for profits to show in the accounts -- the sudden departure of the chief executive -does not involve fraud -- so this worry should be a major relief to all of us shareholders - the sudden departure has created a spree of speculative short selling via cfd contracts which will need to be closed and reversed very soon ---the outgoing chief executive has been trying to dispose of his family shareholdings thus fuelling the negative speculation and poor sentiment --i personally would like to buy his entire holding if i had the sufficient funds available -- as these shares will bounce back up to 150p in the next few months imho -dyor regards harry and the boys in dark glasses | harry punter

26/1/2006 18:39 | Well thats the million dollar question No news or updates...the last news was in Sept on tomato seeds or whatever.. market were looking for some positive news to mark the shares up...never happened so down they started to go. Then we had the Chief Exec suspended then fired this year. A further mark down. Futuragene had a placing last year to private instituitions at £1.75 i believe it was... they must be sitting on huge losses or have they off loaded??? Generally people taking profits espicially if they are the same investors who bought into the cash shell overnet data before the reverse take over. I would have thought that based on the continuing weakening share price....directors would have bought some stock...they cant have any reason or faith to do so or else we would have known about it. The website has been taken off line ( apparently its being updated!!! Prob more like investors have been sending in emails to the directors wanting to know what the hell is going on. So in a nutshell i'm not bullish at all. Unless something is in the pipeline...who knows. But I suppose its a AIM stock and a very high risk one at that and we have to deal with it or get the hell out. Personally im staying in for a bit longer to see if the downward trend halts. They could just as easy rocket northwards or tank back down to penney shares. If the latter happened must mean the directors have done a runner with our money!! Strange...Only a few weeks ago the Guardian were still biting the bullet and saying in there view "Futuragene is a screaming buy" ! Well time will tell DYOR | leadersoffice
