01/7/2002 21:15 | Look, trading's dead easy. You can either hang on to your cash, watch the market go up and up and up and then buy when everyone else is frantically getting out, or take the plunge and buy, then watch it promptly plummet and sell up at the bottom. Advanced traders have further possibilities. For example, they can use CFDs or spreadbets to short at the bottom and cover at the top. Another alternative is to buy out-of-the money puts and watch the underlying share price collapse the week after your puts expired worthless. Or you could sell covered calls at a small premium to the current share price, a few days before a three-way takeover battle for the company breaks out. Hmm, I think I'll go back to bed and cower under the sheets. Or maybe I could train a team of monkeys to throw darts at the FT? I'm not sure what kind to use, though? I haven't got enough room for gorillas, but chimps should be OK so long as they don't all try to ride their bikes at once. Or I could wait for a sign from above. Anyone know what kind of sign to wait for? I hear Acme make good signs. | deltablues | |
