The Chairman made the following statement at the Company's AGM

I am sure you all realise that the agricultural industry is going through an
extremely tough time and since my comments in the Annual Report there has been
no change in the news.  David Morley, David Williams and the full team have
been working hard to ensure that the Company performs at its best in this
difficult environment.  I am sure that you would all join me in thanking them
for their efforts.

However, the intention is to steer this Company in a new direction.  Although
it is too early to give you details we are already looking at a substantial
number of opportunities.  I hope you will understand if I am unable to
elaborate too much but I can tell you that it is highly unlikely that we will
be venturing into financial services, high technology, retailing or highly
capital intensive businesses.  That still leaves a vast range of what I
consider to be middle England, industrial manufacturing and distribution
businesses.

Almost anything which we do will be of a size which will require our
shareholders' consent and so we will be able to give you full information as
and when we call the appropriate Extraordinary General Meeting.  I fully
expect to be talking to you again before this time next year.
